Antibacterial Anacardic Acid Derivatives
ACS Infectious Diseases, 2020We report on the antibacterial activity of five phenolic lipids derived from anacardic acid characterized by increasing alkyl chain lengths with 6, 8, 10, 12, or 14 carbon atoms. The compounds were profiled for their physicochemical properties, transport across epithelial monolayers, cytotoxicity, and antibacterial activity as compared to common ...

AbstractThe anacardic acids 1–11, isolated from various plants, were synthesized by a new general method. Reaction of the methyl alkynoates 12–18 with 1‐methoxy‐1,4‐cyclohexadiene at 200°C afforded directly the methyl 2‐methoxybenzoates 19–25 with long chain substituents in 6‐position in 74–85% yield. The dienophiles 12–16 were prepared by pyrolysis of

Lipoxygenase Inhibitory Activity of Anacardic Acids
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 20056[8'(Z)-pentadecenyl]salicylic acid, otherwise known as anacardic acid (C15:1), inhibited the linoleic acid peroxidation catalyzed by soybean lipoxygenase-1 (EC 1.13.11.12, type 1) with an IC50 of 6.8 microM. The inhibition of the enzyme by anacardic acid (C15:1) is a slow and reversible reaction without residual activity.

Antioxidant activity of anacardic acids
Food Chemistry, 2006Abstract Anacardic acids, 6-pentadec(en)ylsalicylic acids isolated from the cashew Anacardium occidentale L. (Anacardiaceae) nut and apple, were found to possess preventive antioxidant activity while salicylic acid did not show this activity. These anacardic acids prevent generation of superoxide radicals by inhibiting xanthine oxidase (EC 1.1.3.22,

Syntheses of anacardic acids and ginkgoic acid
Tetrahedron, 1987Abstract Syntheses of two anacardic acids [6-pentadecyl- and 6-(10-pentadecenyl) salicylic acid], inhibitors of prostaglandin synthetase and of the growth of certain insects, and ginkgoic acid via directive metallation is reported.
