Frequently occurring (i.e. present in at least 30% organisms) families of Fe-S proteins in aerobes and HC anaerobes.

open access: yes, 2017
(A): Venn diagram showing the distribution of the 116 frequently occurring Fe-S families within aerobes and HC anaerobes. (B), (C), and (D): Pie charts showing the types of Fe-S cluster (blue: Fe2S2; orange: Fe4S4; green: Fe3S4; yellow: two or more of ...

Distinct Nasal Microbiome Profiles and Prediction Model for Allergic Rhinitis, Nonallergic Rhinitis, and Healthy Children

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
The alpha and beta diversity of the nasal microbiome differed among children with allergic rhinitis (AR), nonallergic rhinitis (NAR), and healthy controls (HCs). Compared to HC, AR had more Escherichia‐Shigella, Negativicoccus, and Campylobacter, while NAR had more Dolosigranulum and fewer Enterobacteriaceae.

ANAEROBIC OSTEOMYELITIS

open access: yesMedicine, 1978
We have presented eight case histories of patients with anaerobic osteomyelitis and have reviewed an additional 193 cases from the world literature. The incidence, predisposing factors, clinical localization, bacteriology, modes of presentation and natural history of anaerobic osteomyelitis are discussed.

Characterization of the Middle Ear Microbiome in Meniere's Disease by 16S rRNA Gene Sequencing Compared to Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the middle ear microbiome in Meniere's disease (MD) patients. Methods Middle ear smears from 10 MD patients (ME group) and 10 chronic suppurative otitis patients (OE group) were collected during surgery and processed via 16S rRNA gene sequencing.

Susceptibility of strict and facultative anaerobes Isolated from endodontic infections to metronidazole and beta-lactams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Endodontic infections are mixed aerobic-anaerobic infections and several microbial groups associated to these pathologies are also involved in orofacial infections. The goal of this study was to evaluate the susceptibility of microorganisms isolated from

Predicted microbiome‐associated metabolic pathways are linked to immune checkpoint modulation in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Microbial metabolites are key regulators of host immunity, yet their functional impact in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) remains unclear. Following up on our earlier observations of microbiome dysbiosis in CLL, we performed predictive metabolic profiling based on 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) sequencing of oral and stool samples collected from ...

DEVELOPMENT OF PCR KITS FOR BACTERIA OF THE GENUS CLOSTRIDIUM AND TOXINOTYPES CL. PERFRINGENS IDENTIFICATION

open access: yesSiberian Journal of Life Sciences and Agriculture
Bovine clostridiosis is one of the major problems in veterinary medicine, animal husbandry and food safety. Clostridia cause zoonotic infectious diseases.

Microbial Diversity in Sulfate-Reducing Marine Sediment Enrichment Cultures Associated with Anaerobic Biotransformation of Coastal Stockpiled Phosphogypsum (Sfax, Tunisia)

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2017
Anaerobic biotechnology using sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) is a promising alternative for reducing long-term stockpiling of phosphogypsum (PG), an acidic (pH ~3) by-product of the phosphate fertilizer industries containing high amounts of sulfate. The

Updates in acute graft‐versus‐host disease: From novel pathogenic mechanisms to emerging therapeutic targets

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract provides a view on selected aspects of the pathogenesis, risk stratification and treatment of acute GVHD. Summary Acute graft‐versus‐host disease (aGVHD) remains a major complication following allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo‐HSCT), representing a leading cause of non‐relapse mortality (NRM) and ...

A high-throughput anaerobic method for viability assays

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Viability testing for anaerobes is a time-consuming and expensive process, posing challenges for research and public health settings. Here, we present a rapid, economical, and reliable method for testing anaerobe viability using the Geometric Viability ...
