The Complex World of Toothpaste Diversity, Meeting Patient Clinical Needs. An Umbrella Review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dental Hygiene, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Amidst numerous recent advancements in toothpaste formulations and active ingredients, some clinicians may believe all toothpastes are similar despite differences in their active ingredients and corresponding clinical application.

Male genital lichen sclerosus

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Male genital lichen sclerosus is driven by chronic, occluded exposure of susceptible genital epithelium to urine, rather than infection or autoimmunity. This review synthesizes clinical, anatomical and molecular evidence showing how microincontinence and occlusion initiate inflammation, fibrosis and carcinogenesis, and explains the curative effect of ...

Pathogenesis of hidradenitis suppurativa: From susceptibility to chronicity

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
This review describes hidradenitis suppurativa as a heterogeneous disorder in which genetic susceptibility, epithelial dysfunction, environmental exposures, immune activation and microbial ecology converge differently across patients and disease stages.

Hidradenitis suppurativa skin microbiome: In‐depth analysis and modulation by systemic therapies

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Hidradenitis suppurativa skin exhibits profound dysbiosis, characterized by the depletion of homeostatic commensals and expansion of anaerobic pathogens. Longitudinal evaluation reveals that while systemic antibiotics successfully reverse HS dysbiosis, biologics (adalimumab and secukinumab) fail to clear pathogens despite clinical healing.

mGem: Faecalibacterium, an important protector of gut health

open access: yesmBio
Faecalibacterium is among the most abundant bacterial genera in the healthy human colon, comprising approximately 10–15% of the total gut microbiota. Species within this genus ferment complex carbohydrates, including pectin, to produce butyrate, a short ...

High-throughput cultivation and isolation of environmental anaerobes using selectively permeable hydrogel capsules

open access: yes
Over the past two decades, metagenomics has greatly expanded our understanding of microbial phylogenetic and metabolic diversity. However, most microbial taxa remain uncultured, hindering research and biotechnological applications.

Obesity‐associated transcriptomic remodelling in hidradenitis suppurativa and treatment response

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
This review highlights that adiposity systemically primes HS through adipokine dysregulation and insulin resistance, contributing to lesional metabolic reprogramming and perilesional barrier dysfunction. Current evidence indicates that obesity exacerbates disease severity and attenuates responses to biologic therapies, supporting the classification of ...

Individualized Oral Health Care for Dysphagic, Care‐Dependent Patients With Acquired Brain Injury: An Exploratory Predefined Subgroup Analysis of a Cluster Nonrandomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract summarizes an exploratory predefined subgroup analysis of dysphagic, care‐dependent adults with acquired brain injury undergoing inpatient neurorehabilitation. Three wards implemented standard oral care, while three wards implemented the structured individualized MOHIT protocol.
