Analysis of anaerobic digestion model with two serial interconnected chemostats [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this paper, we study a well known two-step anaerobic digestion model in a configuration of two chemostats in series. This model is an eight-dimensional system of ordinary differential equations. Since the reaction system has a cascade structure, we show that the eight-order model can be reduced to a four-dimensional one.

Plastic‐to‐Treasure: Innovative advances in photo/electro‐catalytic upcycling technologies for commodity chemicals and fuels

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
A huge amount of plastic waste is generated yearly. With the aid of photo/electrocatalysis, they can be upcycled to clean fuels and green chemicals, leading to rehabilitation of the environment and sustainability. This review shines a light on the design of photo/electrocatalysts for effective plastic transformation into economically high‐valued ...

Current and novel biomarkers in cardiogenic shock

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
A summary of current and novel biomarkers and their potential stages of release in cardiogenic shock. The diagram illustrates the proposed release of the biomarkers during the different stages of cardiogenic shock: progression from cardiac dysfunction/stress, through to inflammation and end‐organ dysfunction.

Enhancing Methane Yield in Anaerobic Co-Digestion of Primary Sewage Sludge: A Comprehensive Review on Potential Additives and Strategies

open access: yesWaste
Traditionally, anaerobic digestion has been applied to mixed sludge, combining primary sludge (PS) with secondary sludge. However, recent research has unveiled the advantages of dedicated PS digestion due to its higher energy content. Anaerobic digestion

Temporal Dynamics of Microbial Communities in Anaerobic Digestion: Influence of Temperature and Feedstock Composition on Reactor Performance and Stability [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Anaerobic digestion (AD) offers a sustainable biotechnology to recover resources from carbon-rich wastewater, such as food-processing wastewater. Despite crude wastewater characterisation, the impact of detailed chemical fingerprinting on AD remains underexplored.

Comparative Study of Plant‐Based Antioxidants on the Stability of Soybean and Beef Tallow Biodiesels

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biodiesel is a renewable alternative fuel, but its oxidative instability reduces quality and performance over time. This study explicitly aimed to investigate the efficacy of natural antioxidants—acerola, soursop, mango, and pitanga leaves—and compare their performance to the synthetic antioxidant butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) in enhancing ...
