In multiple sclerosis, the disruption of the blood‐spinal cord barrier (BSCB) induced by CXCL13 facilitates the infiltration of inflammatory cells into the central nervous system, resulting in demyelination and neuronal injury. Mechanistically, the deleterious impact of CXCL13 on the BSCB is associated with a reduction in tight junction protein ...

Transesterification of vegetable oils with homogeneous catalyst for biodiesel synthesis is considered to have a promising future, but it is nonrenewable and hazardous. High production cost, in terms of feedstock oil and catalyst acquisition is one of the major challenges facing the global commercialization of biodiesel.

Effect of increasing total solids contents on anaerobic digestion of food waste under mesophilic conditions: performance and microbial characteristics analysis. [PDF]
The total solids content of feedstocks affects the performances of anaerobic digestion and the change of total solids content will lead the change of microbial morphology in systems.

The mechanism map of how L.johnsonii generates cyclo(pro‐trp) to alleviate CKD–SHPT by promoting the expression of CaSR and TRPV4 in IECs, enhancing Ca2+ absorption, and negatively feedback inhibiting iPTH secretion. Abstract Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are at a high risk of developing secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT), which may ...

Bayesian Uncertainty Quantification for Anaerobic Digestion models [PDF]
Uncertainty quantification is critical for ensuring adequate predictive power of computational models used in biology. Focusing on two anaerobic digestion models, this article introduces a novel generalized Bayesian procedure, called VarBUQ, ensuring a correct tradeoff between flexibility and computational cost.

High Sugar Induced RCC2 Lactylation Drives Breast Cancer Tumorigenicity Through Upregulating MAD2L1
This study finds that KAT2A mediates the lactylation modification of the non‐histone protein RCC2 at K124, facilitating the recruitment of free SERBP1 and aiding in the formation of the initial SERBP1‐MAD2L1 complex. SERBP1 enhances the stability of MAD2L1 mRNA and promotes cellular proliferation.

Low pH, high salinity: too much for Microbial Fuel Cells? [PDF]
Twelve single chambered, air-cathode Tubular Microbial Fuel Cells (TMFCs) have been filled up with fruit and vegetable residues. The anodes were realized by means of a carbon fiber brush, while the cathodes were realized through a graphite-based porous ceramic disk with Nafion membranes (117 Dupont). The performances in terms of polarization curves and

Structural and Biochemical Characterization of a Widespread Enterobacterial Peroxidase Encapsulin
Encapsulins are self‐assembling bacterial protein compartments loaded with cargo enzymes. The most abundant encapsulin cargo class are Dye‐decolorizing Peroxidases (DyPs). In this study, we structurally and biochemically characterize a DyP encapsulin found in many enterobacteria.
