Anaerobic treatment of thermal sludge conditioning liquor with granular sludge
Water Environment Research, 1993ABSTRACT: Thermal sludge conditioning liquor was successfully treated by a pilot‐scale upflow anaerobic hybrid system with an effective volume of 10.4 m3. The reactor was similar to the HYAN reactor in Lakeview but without a recirculation system. A gas‐solid separator was installed above a filter packed with polypropylene pall rings.

[Cultivation of aerobic granular sludge in SBR by seeding anaerobic granular sludge].
Huan jing ke xue= Huanjing kexue, 2006Anaerobic granular sludge was inoculated to an aerobic SBR, where CH3COONa was used as the carbon source. Observations on the change of granules' shape and structure revealed that the granules experienced a shape-keeping and component-replacing process.

The impact of anaerobic extracellular polymers on the metabolism of granular anaerobic sludge
Environmental Technology, 1991Abstract Earlier work has suggested that the addition of extracellular polymers to the seed sludge of an upflow sludge blanket reactor may inhibit its performance during the initial start‐up phase. Measurements of the specific methanogenic activity using sucrose and acetate/formate substrates, with and without the addition of polymers, showed that ...

Toxicity of Sulfite and Cadmium to Anaerobic Granular Sludge
Water Quality Research Journal, 1994Abstract Toxicity of sulfite (Na2SO3) and cadmium (CdCl2) ions to anaerobic granular sludge was investigated in 1.2 litre bench-scale upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactors during process acclimation and shock load conditions. Minimal sulfite toxicity was observed under gradual and shock load conditions at sulfite concentrations

Effects of Mercury on Anaerobic Granular Sludge Activity
2009 3rd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering, 2009In order to understand the toxicity of mercury on the activity of anaerobic granular sludge, the inhibition and rejuvenation effects of mercury ion (Hg 2+ ) on methanogenic production activity of the anaerobic granular sludge was investigated using Smith fermentation method under laboratory condition.

In biological wastewater treatment, the bacteria starvation always challenges the stability of system operation. Yet, the effects of starvation and possibility of reactivation are less understood for anaerobic sulfidogenic system. Sulfidogenic systems use sulfate as electron acceptor for organic chemical oxygen demand (COD) degradation, so it will ...

For the rapid cultivation of anaerobic ammonium oxidation (ANAMMOX) granular sludge (AGS), a small amount of flocculent ANAMMOX sludge (FAS) was taken as the research object, and a bio-flow separate ball was used as the filler in an up-flow anaerobic sludge bed (UASB) to rapidly begin ANAMMOX and to cultivate granular sludge. In addition, the substrate

[Study on toxicity of phenol to anaerobic granular sludge].
Huan jing ke xue= Huanjing kexue, 2012To understand the toxicity of phenol to anaerobic granular sludge, the changes of specific methanogenic activity (SMA), extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) constituents and coenzyme F420 concentration of anaerobic granular sludge at various phenol concentrations were investigated.
