A review on bidirectional analogies between the photocatalysis and antibacterial properties of ZnO
Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2019As a multi-functional biosafety material with outstanding anti-ultraviolet property, good photocatalytic property as well as antibacterial activity, ZnO shows promising practical applications in both researches and developments.

The claim that “analogy” is analogous has sometimes been made in comparing so-called analogy of attribution with so-called analogy of proper proportionality when the meaning of “primary analogate” in these two putative types of analogous name is questioned. The claim, it has always seemed to me, has a rhetorical if not intimidating ring to it.

Models and analogies in science
Hyle, 2000Science makes extensive use of models, i.e. simplified or idealized representations of the systems found in the physical world. Models fall into at least two categories: mathematical and physical models.

Opiate alkaloids, such as morphine, are powerful analgesic agents that are the drugs of choice for the treatment of severe pain. The pharmacological effects of opiates are mediated through the binding and activation of membrane-bound opioid receptors that are found in the central and peripheral nervous systems.

Analogical inferences are central to analogy
Behavioral and Brain Sciences, 2008AbstractIt is important to take a developmental approach to the problem of analogy. One limitation of this approach, however, is that it does not deal with the complexity of making analogical inferences. There are a few key principles of analogical inference that are not well captured by the analogical relational priming (ARP) model.

When I was no more than a boy and beginning to show some interest in living creatures I can remember being sternly warned by my elders to beware of the dangers of analogies. It was said in the same tone one might tell someone not to eat a certain kind of mushroom. I do not believe it ever seriously curbed my instinct for analogy; I went on comparing as

The Arduino interface board, just like most other computers, is a digital system that operates on binary values: 1 and 0, on and off, true and false. What if we wanted to know not just whether it was hot or cold outside but rather how hot or cold it was? Or instead of turning an LED on or off, maybe we want to dim or even fade an LED?
