COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Electrochemical-Thermal Modelling and Optimisation of Lithium-Ion Battery Design Parameters Using Analysis of Variance

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
A 1D electrochemical-thermal model of an electrode pair of a lithium ion battery is developed in Comsol Multiphysics. The mathematical model is validated against the literature data for a 10 Ah lithium phosphate (LFP) pouch cell operating under 1 C to 5 ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Optimizing 3D printing parameters for PLA and PETG: advancing high-quality skull implant production [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal
This study investigates the mechanical performance of 3D-printed polylactic acid and polyethylene terephthalate glycol materials by examining the effects of three crucial printing parameters (layer thickness, infill density, and infill pattern).

Objective evaluation of precision requirements for geochemical analysis using robust analysis of variance [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
The pursuit of high precision in geochemical analysis has no inherent limit. An appropriate analytical precision requirement can be set, however, by comparing the “analytical variance” with the other sources of variance in geochemical data. The purpose of

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
