Analytic projective geometry for computer graphics

open access: yesDiscrete and Continuous Models and Applied Computational Science
The motivation of this paper was the development of computer geometry course for students of mathematical specialties. The term “computer geometry” hereafter refers to the mathematical foundations of machine graphics.

A Synergy between History of Mathematics and Mathematics Education: A Possible Path from Geometry to Symbolic Algebra

open access: yesEducation Sciences, 2020
This paper proposes an experimental path aimed at guiding upper secondary school students to overcome that discontinuity, often perceived by them, between learning geometry and learning algebra.

A remark on the intersections of subanalytic leaves [PDF]

open access: yesOpuscula Mathematica, 2016
We discuss a new sufficient condition - weaker than the usual transversality condition - for the intersection of two subanalytic leaves to be smooth. It involves the tangent cone of the intersection and, as typically non-transversal, it is of interest in

Hydrodynamic magneto-transport in holographic charge density wave states

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We employ hydrodynamics and gauge/gravity to study magneto-transport in phases of matter where translations are broken (pseudo-)spontaneously. First we provide a hydrodynamic description of systems where translations are broken homogeneously at nonzero ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Scrutinizing the General Conic Equation

open access: yesMathematics
We present a general formula that transforms any conic of the form Ax2+Bxy+Cy2+Dx+Ey+F=0, with B≠0, into A′(x′)2+C′(y′)2+D′x′+E′y′+F=0, without requiring the rotation angle θ.
