Effects of Seat Belts and Shock Absorbers on the Safety of Racing Car Drivers
This paper aimed to study the behavior of a body (dummy) that was in a race car in the event of a frontal collision with a wall in order to see what loads were acting on the dummy.

Analytic continuation of stochastic mechanics [PDF]
We study a (relativistic) Wiener process on a complexified (pseudo-)Riemannian manifold. Using Nelson’s stochastic quantization procedure, we derive three equivalent descriptions for this problem. If the process has a purely real quadratic variation, we obtain the one-sided Wiener process that is encountered in the theory of Brownian motion.

Numerical-analytical method in reinforced concrete mechanics
A variant of the numerical-analytical method in the nonlinear mechanics of reinforced concrete is proposed. Calculation models make it possible to take into account a number of important factors, such as discrete cracks, the effect of concrete ...

Mechanisms of Lagrangian Analyticity in Fluids [PDF]
Certain systems of inviscid fluid dynamics have the property that for solutions that are only slightly better than differentiable in Eulerian variables, the corresponding Lagrangian trajectories are analytic in time. We elucidate the mechanisms in fluid dynamics systems that give rise to this automatic Lagrangian analyticity, as well as mechanisms in ...

Hyperbolic normal forms and invariant manifolds: Astronomical applications [PDF]
In recent years, the study of the dynamics induced by the invariant manifolds of unstable periodic orbits in nonlinear Hamiltonian dynamical systems has led to a number of applications in celestial mechanics and dynamical astronomy.

Symmetries in central-force problems [PDF]
The two-body problem in central fields (reducible to a central-force problem) models a lot of concrete astronomical situations. The corresponding vector fields (in Cartesian and polar coordinates, extended via collision-blow-up and infinity-blow-up ...

Analytical Sociology and Social Mechanisms [PDF]
Mechanisms are very much a part of social life. For example, we can see that inequality has tended to increase over time, and that cities can become segregated. But how do such mechanisms work? Analytical sociology is an influential approach to sociology which holds that explanations of social phenomena should focus on the social mechanisms that bring ...

Identification of ice-over-water multilayer clouds using multispectral satellite data in an artificial neural network [PDF]
An artificial neural network (ANN) algorithm, employing several Aqua MODerate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) channels, the retrieved cloud phase and total cloud visible optical depth, and temperature and humidity vertical profiles is ...

An analytical solution of boundary problems of shell deformation mechanics [PDF]
This paper proposes an algorithm for the analytical (with a controllable error) solution of boundary-value problems of shell deformation mechanics. Decomposition of partial differential equations is per-formed.
