Phenylpropanoid Glycosides from the Leaves of Ananas comosus [PDF]
Two new phenylpropanoid glycosides, named β-D-(1- O-acetyl-3,6- O-diferuloyl) fructofuranosyl α-D-6′- O-acetylglucopyranoside (1) and β-D-(1- O-acetyl-3,6- O-diferuloyl) fructofuranosyl α-D-glucopyranoside (2), along with two known analogues (3–4) and four glycerides (5–8), were isolated from the EtOAc extract of the leaves of Ananas comosus.

Cryopreservation of pineapple (Ananas comosus) apices
The encapsulation-dehydration and vitrification techniques were experimented for freezing apices of pineapple in vitro plantlets. Positive results were achieved using vitrification only. Optimal conditions included a 2-d preculture of apices on medium supplemented with 0.3M sucrose, loading treatment for 25 min in medium with 0.75M sucrose + 1M ...

Safety evaluation of the food enzyme papain from the latex of Carica papaya L.
Abstract The food enzyme papain (EC 3.4.22.2) is extracted from the latex of unripe Carica papaya L. by Nagase (Europe) GmbH. It is intended to be used in six food manufacturing processes. The dietary exposure to the food enzyme–total organic solids (TOS) was estimated to be up to 1.112 mg TOS/kg body weight per day. This exposure is up to one order of

Concentration by membrane separation processes of a medicinal product obtained from pineapple pulp
The concentration of pineapple juice is needed to retain the bromelain activity and to standardize the composition and proteolytic activity. Thus, this work aimed to obtain a pure bromelain extract from the Ananas comosus L.

Cryptic CAM photosynthesis in Joshua tree (Yucca brevifolia, Y. jaegeriana)
Summary Joshua trees are long‐lived perennial monocots native to the Mojave Desert in North America. Composed of two species, Yucca brevifolia and Y. jaegeriana (Asparagaceae), Joshua trees are imperiled by climate change, with decreases in suitable habitat predicted under future climate change scenarios.

Structural determinants for red‐shifted absorption in higher‐plants Photosystem I
Summary Higher plants Photosystem I absorbs far‐red light, enriched under vegetation canopies, through long‐wavelength Chls to enhance photon capture. Far‐red absorption originates from Chl pairs within the Lhca3 and Lhca4 subunits of the LHCI antenna, known as the ‘red cluster’, including Chls a603 and a609.
