Effects of proton therapy on the tumor immune system and clinical implications: A review

open access: yesPrecision Radiation Oncology, Volume 10, Issue 3, Page 388-402, September 2026.
Proton therapy is a novel radiotherapy technique. We review four aspects of proton therapy: application in various tumors, effects on the tumor immune system, combination with other therapies, and future challenges. By presenting these aspects in this review, we aim to inspire clinical interventions.

First‐Line Lorlatinib in Striatin–Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase‐Positive Lung Adenocarcinoma: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
A 45‐year‐old male with STRN–ALK‐positive lung adenocarcinoma and brain metastases achieved a significant and durable response to first‐line lorlatinib. Together with our literature review of 15 previously reported cases, this case supports further evaluation of lorlatinib as a first‐line treatment option for patients harbouring this rare ALK fusion ...

Decoding Malignant Lung Ground Glass Opacities: A Radiologic–Pathologic Study From Pure to Semi‐Solid Lesions

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 17, September 2026.
In our study, among 135 completely resected pure or partially solid malignant GGOs, the presence of a feeding arterial vessel is an independent predictor to consolidation. Pathological variables are reported as early as this stage and LVI+ mGGOs present a significant lower disease‐free survival, regardless of their consolidation.

Consistency of c‐Met protein overexpression over time in patients with non‐squamous non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 89, Issue 3, Page 456-466, September 2026.
c‐Met protein overexpression can be assessed before or after treatment in patients with non‐squamous NSCLC since most patients maintain a consistent c‐Met status. However, as targeted therapies may elevate c‐Met overexpression, retesting may be necessary for subsets of patients.

Early stage non–small cell lung cancer: Toward a risk‐adaptive paradigm in the era of biologic precision

open access: yesCA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians, Volume 76, Issue 5, September/October 2026.
Abstract The clinical landscape of early stage non–small cell lung cancer is at transformative crossroads. Driven by the widespread adoption of low‐dose computed tomography screening, the frequent detection of ground‐glass opacities, and a rising incidence among never‐smokers, the diagnostic center of gravity has shifted toward earlier, potentially ...
