Investigation of prestress loss in anchor cables and adaptive construction scheme for soft rock tunnelling

open access: yes
The construction and stabilisation of soft-rock tunnels pose significant challenges due to rock’s inherent properties, like low strength and high deformability.

An improved contrastive learning loss function for automated clock-drawing test grading with implications for cognitive impairment screening

open access: yesFrontiers in Computer Science
Contrastive learning has been attracting much interest in recent years for its ability to train without labeled data. An important factor in its success is the loss function, which guides the search for prominent features that separate the positive and ...

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Decreased cold‐sensing function of the transient receptor potential channel TRPM8 from tailed amphibians

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Despite frogs avoiding low temperatures, examination of four salamander species revealed that none avoided cold and all possessed cold tolerance. Functional analysis of TRPM8, a cold sensor, showed that all salamander TRPM8s had lost their cold sensitivity.

Experimental Study on Corrosion of Anchored Rock Mass for Half-Through Intermittent Joints

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2019
Make crackled mortar test block to simulate jointed rock mass reinforced by anchor bars. Computational model of corrosion penetration at different load times can be obtained by corrosion acceleration through electrochemistry.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...
