Cytotoxic androstane derivatives from Sarcococca ruscifolia

Fitoterapia, 2020
Sarcorusones A-D (1-4), four new androstane (C19-steroid) derivatives were characterized from Sarcococca ruscifolia along with five known compounds. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive MS and NMR spectroscopic analysis. All the new structures share common 14-hydroxyl and 17-ketone functional groups, and compounds 2-4 feature a ...

Androstane Therapy of Aplastic Anaemia

Acta Haematologica, 1972
Androstane therapy in 34 new cases of aplastic anaemia together with the follow-up in 33 cases previously reported is evaluated. Thenew cases were of the acquired variety and had a hypoplastic marrow.

Total synthesis of androstanes

Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1979
A total synthesis of androstane derivatives is described. The desired configuration at C8 and at C13 is achieved in a ring C forming SnCl4-catalyzed Diels–Alder reaction. The preparation of methyl Z-2-methyl-4-oxo-2-pentenoate and the cyclization of a keto ester to a steroid 15,17-dione are also reported.

5β-Androstan-3,17-dione

Acta Crystallographica Section C Crystal Structure Communications, 1998
The title compound, C 19 H 28 O 2 , has the 5β configuration and a bowing angle of 71.76 (5) ° at the A/B ring junction. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak intermolecular C-H…O and van der Waals interactions.

Preparation of Androstanes Related to Aphidicolin

Collection of Czechoslovak Chemical Communications, 2007
The preparation of 3α,4α,17β-trihydroxy-, 3α,4α,16α,17α- and 2α,3α,16α,17α-tetrahydroxy-5α-androstane derivatives (5, 11, 18) from testosterone as steroidal analogues of diterpenoid inhibitor of DNA polymerase α, aphidicolin, is described. The crystal structure of 5α-androstane-3α,4α,17β-triyl triacetate (6) is reported.

Comparative urinary androstanes in the great apes

General and Comparative Endocrinology, 2003
Urinary androstanes from seven species of male great apes (human, bonobo, chimpanzee, lowland gorilla, mountain gorilla, Bornean orangutan, and Sumatran orangutan) were separated by HPLC and detected by RIA using two testosterone antibodies. All animals examined showed the presence of testosterone and six additional immunoreactive peaks.

Constitutive androstane receptor-responsive elements for mouse Cyp1a2 transcriptional activation induced by constitutive androstane receptor ligands

Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, 2023
The mouse cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1a2) gene is one of the constitutive androstane receptor (CAR, NR1I3) activator-inducible genes, and the regions involved in induction were examined herein. A reporter gene assay indicated the involvement of the -0.2-kb region in the induction of transcriptional activation by the mouse CAR agonist ligand 1,4-bis-[2-(3 ...

Androstanes with Modified Carbon Skeletons

European Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2011
AbstractFour sterane hydrocarbons were prepared for comparison with fossil organic biomarkers in geological samples from Oman. 17β‐Methylestrane was prepared in six steps (36 % overall yield) from estrone methyl ether. Key steps of this sequence were a Wittig olefination and Birch reduction of the A‐ring. 17β‐Methylandrostane was obtained in four steps
