A ring conformation of androstan-3-one
For solid-state structures of androstan-3-one derivatives presented in Cambridge structural database (CSD), the puckering parameters for the six-membered rings were calculated to investigate the ring conformation. It was found that for the A-ring, except for typical chair conformation, the boat conformation appears very often. This conformation is also

The metabolism of bolasterone in liver microsomes and in urine samples of rats orally treated was evaluated due to no availability of its extensive metabolism studies. Its mono‐ and di‐hydroxylated metabolites were detected by GC‐EI‐MS/MS, and the fragmentation pathways of metabolites were suggested.

Syntheses and structural confirmation of stereoisomers and various isotopologues of tetrahydromethyltestosterone [PDF]
This is an overview of the syntheses and structural conformation of in-house synthesized compounds. These compounds belong to the group of sereoisomers of metabolites of anabolic androgenic steroids and have been used in different studies in our working ...

Quantification of a glucocorticoid profile in non-pooled samples is pivotal in stress research across vertebrates [PDF]
Vertebrates are faced continuously with a variety of potential stressful stimuli and react by a highly conserved endocrine stress response. An immediate catecholamine mediated response increases plasma glucose levels in order to prepare the organism for ...

The gut‐microbiota‐brain axis: Focus on gut steroids
Abstract There are over 1000 varieties of steroids that have been reported in nature, including the endogenous sex steroid hormones (i.e., progesterone, testosterone, and 17β‐estradiol) and corticosteroids which are mainly synthesized by gonads and adrenals, respectively.

Assessing agroecosystem resilience in annual cropping systems with ecometabolomics
Abstract Plant ecometabolomics is a growing field of study that allows broader understanding of the metabolomic dynamics within and between plants and their ecosystem. Plants constantly respond to environmental cues, producing plant secondary metabolites (PSMs) to communicate with and adapt to their ever‐changing ecosystems.

The Tetracyanoethylene Catalysed Methanolysis of Androstane 2,3-Epoxides [PDF]
Unlike other acidic systems, the tetracyanoethylene catalysed methanolysis of androstane 2,3-epoxides proceeds normally without giving products arising from the transannular participation of a 5α,6α-epoxide, a 5α-hydroxy group or a 5(6)-ene.

In this study, we explored the therapeutic effects of Parabacteroides goldsteinii (P. goldsteinii) on colitis and its underlying mechanisms. Our results indicate a significant reduction of P. goldsteinii in the stools of inflammatory bowel disease patients. We demonstrate the therapeutic potential of P.

Abstract According to the ‘EFSA‐SANTE Action Plan on Cumulative Risk Assessment for pesticides residues’, EFSA initiated a retrospective cumulative risk assessment (CRA) of the effects of pesticide residues on the liver. For this CRA, EFSA identified the following liver‐specific effects in accordance with the International Harmonisation of Nomenclature
