Identification of the aldolase responsible for the production of 22‐hydroxy‐23,24‐bisnorchol‐4‐ene‐3‐one from natural sterols in Mycolicibacterium smegmatis

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 17, Issue 1, January 2024.
We have identified the MSMEG_6561 gene, encoding an aldolase responsible for the transformation of 22‐hydroxy‐3‐oxo‐cholest‐4‐ene‐24‐carboxyl‐CoA (22‐OH‐BCN‐CoA) into the 22‐hydroxy‐23,24‐bisnorchol‐4‐ene‐3‐one (4‐HBC) precursor (20S)‐3‐oxopregn‐4‐ene‐20‐carboxaldehyde (3‐OPA).

Digit ratio (2D:4D) predicts facial, but not voice or body odour, attractiveness in men [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
There is growing evidence that human second-to-fourth digit ratio (or 2D:4D) is related to facial features involved in attractiveness, mediated by in utero hormonal effects. The present study extends the investigation to other phenotypic, hormone-related

Human chemosignals modulate emotional perception of biological motion in a sex-specific manner [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Androsta-4,16,-dien-3-one and estra-1,3,5(10),16-tetraen-3-ol have previously been shown to communicate opposite sex information that is differently effective to the two sex groups.

Menstrual cycle variation in women’s preference for the scent of symmetrical men. [PDF]
