ABSTRACT Introduction Elevated vitamin B12 concentration can be caused by supplementation, liver disease, kidney disease, or myeloid malignancies. Persistent, unexplained elevations of vitamin B12 can raise concern among patients and may lead to invasive diagnostic procedures, including bone marrow biopsy.

ABSTRACT A 3‐year‐old, intact female Havanese dog was presented for treatment of a relapse of suspected immune‐mediated anemia and thrombocytopenia. Over the course of treatment, the patient's anemia appeared to acutely transition from macrocytic and hypochromic to microcytic and hypochromic between days five and six of hospitalization.

SUMMARY In dogs, the WDF and WNR scattergrams from the Sysmex XN‐1000V enable a highly presumptive interpretation of mastocytemia. This is the first description of abnormal circulating mast cells using the Sysmex XN‐1000V, which appears to function similarly to the previous analyzer, the Sysmex XT‐2000iV.
