Identifying the optimal dose of cannabidiol by intrabuccal administration in Kramnik (C3HeB/FeJ) mice

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Cannabidiol (CBD) has numerous therapeutic properties, and is used to treat neurological conditions, such as neuroinflammation. However, the optimal dose of CBD to penetrate the brain requires further investigation. The primary aim of this study was to use a mouse model and the intrabuccal route for CBD administration to determine the optimal dose at ...

Description of unilateral kidney embolism and contralateral nephrectomy as a less invasive remnant kidney model in cats; a proof‐of‐concept study

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Unilateral, minimally invasive, renal arterial embolization and delayed contralateral nephrectomy was described in cats as a novel remnant kidney model of chronic kidney disease using two doses of embolic particles. Renal function declined and characteristic histopathological markers of kidney disease were present 6 months after the embolism procedure.

Dose N2O Cause Paradoxical Reaction in Response to Noxious Stimulants During Inhalation Induction of Anesthesia in Pediatrics?

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2009
Background: Bispectral Index is one of the qualitative methods of measuring of sedation and depth of anesthesia. In a few studies appeared a paradoxical effect of N2O on BIS in adults.

Improved husbandry measures to enhance reproducibility of wound healing studies in the Leprdb/db mouse

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Though the Leprdb/db mouse is a common and well‐studied model of type II diabetes mellitus, there are a few specific guidelines for its husbandry, and wound complications are common. We present a modified husbandry approach for the Leprdb/db mouse that includes increased cage size, decreased housing density, and more frequent cage changes.

A case of disseminated intravascular coagulation of sepsis that caused extreme‐thrombocytopenia treated at a remote‐island‐hospital

open access: yesJournal of General and Family Medicine, Volume 24, Issue 1, Page 50-53, January 2023., 2023
A 66‐year‐old male had urinary tract infection by Escherichia coli, followed by septic shock and DIC rapidly just two days after the onset. He was treated and recovered in three weeks without any massive bleeding at a remote‐island‐hospital. Gram‐staining and immediate insertion of CV are essential techniques to care severe infections even in remote ...

Impact of different anesthetic protocols during anesthesia for the establishment of a porcine model of acute kidney injury

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study details the adaptations required to establish a long‐term anesthetic protocol in pigs. Three protocols were evaluated, with some causing malignant hyperthermia, hypoglycemia, or hemoynamic instability. The final protocol proved effective for developing a porcine AKI model requiring adequate arterial pressure maintenance.

Hydrophilic Particles Exit While Hydrophobic Particles Persist Following In Vivo Biodegradation of Nanoparticle‐Laden Polymeric Devices

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Functionalizing biomedical implants with nanoparticle contrast agents introduces imaging capabilities to devices, improving patient care by avoiding inherent complications. However, nanoparticle surface chemistry optimized for device manufacturing may not lead to efficient nanoparticle clearance from tissues.

Evaluation of the circumferential location of mild reflux esophagitis (Grade A and B) in the lower esophagus

open access: yesJGH Open, Volume 6, Issue 12, Page 864-868, December 2022., 2022
In the single lesion group, mild mucosal breaks were exclusively distributed between 2 and 7 o'clock, with 50% in the 3 o'clock direction (right lateral wall). In the multiple lesion group, mild mucosal breaks were distributed circumferentially, not uniformly; however, at least one lesion was located between 2 and 7 o'clock in 91% of subjects.

The velar chord and dynamic integration of the gular valve in crocodylians

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Crocodilians have a unique gular valve that forms a seal between the oral cavity and the pharynx. The gular valve has traditionally been treated as two parts: a mobile ventral flap associated with the tongue and a fixed dorsal velum palatini. This work describes a connective tissue band, the velar chord, which functionally integrates the two parts of ...
