Anesthesia technique and postpartum hemorrhage: a prospective cohort study
Background and objective: During the past few years, an increased number of postpartum hemorrhages have been noticed, even in high-income countries. It has been suggested that this escalation could be associated with increased obstetric interventions ...

Membrane Nanodomains Homeostasis During Propofol Anesthesia as Function of Dosage and Temperature [PDF]
Some anesthetics bind and potentiate gamma-aminobutyric-acid-type receptors, but no universal mechanism for general anesthesia is known. Furthermore, often encountered complications such as anesthesia induced amnesia are not understood. General anesthetics are hydrophobic molecules easily dissolving into lipid bilayers.

Low‐Dose Ketamine Anesthesia for Obstetrical Delivery
&NA; Ketamine was found generally satisfactory for anesthesia in 370 normal vaginal deliveries. Although Apgar scores with low‐dose ketamine (0.3 mg./lb.) for delivery were comparable to those seen with other general anesthetic technics, a normal dose of

Reduced neural activity during volatile anesthesia compared to TIVA: evidence from a novel EEG signal processing analysis [PDF]
Post-operative cognitive decline is a well-known phenomenon and of crucial importance especially in the elderly. General anesthesia can be accomplished by inhalation-based (volatile) or total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA). While their effects on post-operative symptoms have been investigated, little is known about their influence on brain ...

Stabilizing membrane domains antagonizes n-alcohol anesthesia [PDF]
Diverse molecules induce general anesthesia with potency strongly correlated both with their hydrophobicity and their effects on certain ion channels. We recently observed that several n-alcohol anesthetics inhibit heterogeneity in plasma membrane derived vesicles by lowering the critical temperature ($T_c$) for phase separation.

Objective This study analyzed longitudinal trajectories of soluble fms‐like tyrosine kinase‐1 (sFlt‐1) and placental growth factor (PlGF) and sFlt‐1/PlGF ratio in a cohort of pregnant patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods Blood samples were collected (14‐18, 24‐26, 30‐32, 34‐36 and 38‐40 weeks), stored at ‐80°C and evaluated for ...

Abstract Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) affects many women, with an estimated lifetime risk of surgical intervention of 18.7%. There is a need for alternative approaches as the use of synthetic nondegradable mesh was stopped due to severe adverse events, and as current methods for pelvic floor repair have high POP recurrence rates.
