This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of preoxygenation during the injectable general anesthesia in dogs and estimate the maintenance and recovery times besides measuring the time of hemoglobin desaturation following preoxygenation. Ten young healthy mix-breed dogs were selected and divided into two equal groups.

[Cardiac arrest during anesthesia and recovery period].
Annales francaises d'anesthesie et de reanimation, 1990Cardiac arrests (CA) occurring during anaesthesia and recovery can be classified into three groups: CA not related to anaesthesia (NACA), CA related to anaesthesia (ACA), whether partially (PACA) or totally (TACA). In the French survey, NACAs were three times more frequent than ACAs.

[Hemodynamic complications during the recovery period after anesthesia].
Agressologie: revue internationale de physio-biologie et de pharmacologie appliquees aux effets de l'agression, 1993In the postoperative period the alterations of blood pressure are the main hemodynamic complications. Hypotension or hypertension may compromise the coronary circulation and increase the metabolic demand of the myocardium. Pulmonary oedema is the most frequent manifestation of heart failure.

Forty-eight children aged 4 to 15 years, with an ASA I-II physical status, were examined. The patients underwent short mini-invasive surgical interventions under intravenous anesthesia using ketamine and propofol. The examinees were divided into 2 age groups: 1) 20 children aged 4 to 7 years; 2) 28 aged 8 to 15 years.

[Cardiac arrest during anesthesia and the recovery period. Data from the INSERM survey 1978-1982].
Annales francaises d'anesthesie et de reanimation, 1986This report analyses rate, predisposing factors, causes and outcome of 458 cardiac arrests occurring during anaesthesia and the following 24 hours and collected in France by a national prospective survey between 1978 and 1982. The overall rate of cardiac arrests was 1 per 433 anaesthetics, resulting in death before the 24th postoperative hour in 79% of

Continuous spectral EEG activity monitoring has been used in adults as a monitor of brain activity during anesthesia. It has not been used in infants. We studied 22 infants less than 7 months old undergoing minor surgery. Halothane alone or minimal Halothane anesthesia associated with caudal epidural anesthesia were used.
