Remifentanil versus Sufentanil em infusão contínua em intervenções cirúrgicas videolaparoscópicas: estudo comparativo Remifentanil versus sufentanil en infusión continua en intervenciones quirúrgicas videolaparoscópicas: estudio comparativo Continuous infusion of remifentanil versus sufentanil in videolaparoscopic surgeries: a comparative study

Enhanced Tonic Inhibition Influences the Hypnotic and Amnestic Actions of the Intravenous Anesthetics Etomidate and Propofol

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience, 2013
Intravenous anesthetics exert a component of their actions via potentiating inhibitory neurotransmission mediated by γ-aminobutyric type-A receptors (GABAARs).

Music Interventions in Hyperacute and Acute Stroke Patients: A Randomized Controlled Pilot Feasibility Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Music interventions have been shown to have beneficial effects on hemodynamic parameters, pain, and anxiety in various medical settings. However, music interventions in the setting of acute stroke have not been studied. The objective of this trial was to perform a pilot feasibility study of music interventions in the setting of acute

Development of a Disease Model for Predicting Postoperative Delirium Using Combined Blood Biomarkers

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Postoperative delirium, a common neurocognitive complication after surgery and anesthesia, requires early detection for potential intervention. Herein, we constructed a multidimensional postoperative delirium risk‐prediction model incorporating multiple demographic parameters and blood biomarkers to enhance prediction accuracy ...

Volatile Anesthetics, Not Intravenous Anesthetic Propofol Bind to and Attenuate the Activation of Platelet Receptor Integrin αIIbβ3

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Background In clinical reports, the usage of isoflurane and sevoflurane was associated with more surgical field bleeding in endoscopic sinus surgeries as compared to propofol.

CSF Tau Is a Biomarker of Hippocampal Injury in Cryptogenic New‐Onset Refractory Status Epilepticus

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cryptogenic new‐onset refractory status epilepticus (cNORSE) is a devastating condition characterized by the de novo onset of status epilepticus with unclear etiology. The identification of relevant early biomarkers in cNORSE is important to elucidate pathophysiology, aid clinical decision‐making, and prognosticate outcomes in cNORSE.

Ultrasound-Guided Occipital Nerve Blocks as Part of Multi-Modal Perioperative Analgesia in Pediatric Posterior Craniotomies: A Case Series

open access: yesChildren, 2023
Various regional anesthetics have been used for postoperative analgesia for pediatric craniotomy. In this case series, we report retrospectively collected data on postoperative pain and analgesic use in 44 patients who received ultrasound-guided ...

The temperature dependence of lipid membrane permeability, its quantized nature, and the influence of anesthetics [PDF]

open access: yesBiophys. J. 96 (2009), 4581-4591, 2008
We investigate the permeability of lipid membranes for fluorescence dyes and ions. We find that permeability reaches a maximum close to the chain melting transition of the membranes. Close to transitions, fluctuations in area and compressibility are high, leading to an increased likelihood of spontaneous lipid pore formation.

Sex‐Related Differences in Efficacy and Safety Outcomes in Axial Spondyloarthritis Randomized Clinical Trials: A Systematic Literature Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We aimed to assess differences in baseline characteristics, efficacy, and safety of advanced therapies between male and female patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) in randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Methods We conducted a systematic literature search for RCTs assessing the efficacy of advanced therapies in patients with axSpA ...
