Angiotensin II-receptor antagonists: An overview

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 2000
Angiotensin II (AT-II)-receptor antagonists are reviewed. Research focused on blocking the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) led to the discovery of angiotensin-converting-enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, which are effective in the treatment of hypertension but are associated with a high frequency of cough and other adverse effects.

Endothelial Vasodilator Angiotensin Receptors are Changing in Mice with Ageing

open access: yesResearch in Molecular Medicine, 2014
Background: The vascular function of Angiotensin II-type-2 receptors in adults is controversial. We sought their location and function in mouse aortic rings at young and old mice.

PRMT1 Ablation in Endothelial Cells Causes Endothelial Dysfunction and Aggravates COPD Attributable to Dysregulated NF‐κB Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the role of protein arginine methyltransferase 1 (PRMT1) in endothelial cells (ECs) in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Mice with endothelial‐specific PRMT1 deletion develop pulmonary hemorrhage, inflammation, and apoptosis, driven by excessive nuclear factor kappa B activation.

Interactions between adenosine, angiotensin II and nitric oxide on the afferent arteriole influence sensitivity of the tubuloglomerular feedback

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2013
Adenosine, via activation of A1 receptors on the afferent arteriole (AA), mediates the tubuloglomerular feedback (TGF) mechanism. Angiotensin II and nitric oxide (NO) can modulate the sensitivity of the TGF mechanism. However, the interaction among these

A computational insight of the improved nicotine binding with ACE2-SARS-CoV-2 complex with its clinical impact [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Smokers being witnessed with the mild adverse clinical symptoms of SARS-CoV-2, the in-silico study is intended to explore the effect of nicotine binding to the soluble angiotensin converting enzyme II (ACE2) receptor with or without SARS-CoV-2 binding.

Screening and Identification of Novel DNA Aptamer for Targeted Delivery to Injured Podocytes in Glomerular Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops RLS‐2, a high‐affinity aptamer that specifically targets injured podocytes, making it a promising candidate for targeted drug delivery. In vitro, RLS‐2 shows stability, specificity, efficient siRNA delivery via AsiCs, and uptake by podocytes.

Mild exercise along with limb blood-flow restriction modulates the electrocardiogram, angiotensin, and apelin receptors of the heart in aging rats [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Basic Medical Sciences, 2018
Objective(s): Considering the lack of information, the effects of mild endurance exercise plus blood flow restriction (BFR) on electrocardiographic parameters, hypertrophy index, and expression of angiotensin II receptors type 1 (AT1R) and type 2 (AT2R ...

Featuring ACE2 binding SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 through a conserved evolutionary pattern of amino acid residues [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Spike (S) glycoproteins mediate the coronavirus entry into the host cell. The S1 subunit of S-proteins contains the receptor-binding domain (RBD) that is able to recognize different host receptors, highlighting its remarkable capacity to adapt to their hosts along the viral evolution.

Single‐Cell Atlas Reveals Tumorigenic Profiles and Immune Dynamics of Adrenal Incidentalomas

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing reveals cellular heterogeneity in adrenal incidentalomas, identifying distinct tumor cell populations. Clusterin is recognized as a biomarker for adrenocortical tumors, correlating with established markers. MYCN‐positive clusters in pheochromocytomas indicated poorer survival.

From the choice of antihypertensive drug to the choice of fixed combinations of antihypertensive drugs: a paradigm shift [PDF]

open access: yesСистемные гипертензии, 2015
The article considers modern approaches to treatment of arterial hypertension. Emphasizes the need for combination antihypertensive therapy, mainly fixed combinations of antihypertensive drugs, patients with high and very high risk already at the start ...
