Estimation of contact angles on fibers
Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology, 1999A droplet of liquid placed on a flat high-energy solid surface spreads to give a thin film so that no macroscopic droplet shape exists. On a chemically identical solid surface with only the geometry changed to a cylinder, the same droplet can have an equilibrium conformation.

Estimation of vehicle pitch angle
ATZ worldwide, 2006Vehicle pitch angle is one of the important state variables of vehicle dynamic control system. From this information one can draw conclusions concerning course of road and loading state. Due to economical reasons, the vehicle pitch angle is not measured in standard vehicles and therefore must be estimated.

Estimating the Demand for Salmon Angling in Ireland [PDF]
This paper reports the results of a count data travel cost model for estimating the demand and economic value of salmon angling in Co. Donegal, Ireland. Angling quality, age and nationality were found to affect angling demand, while estimated consumer surplus per angler per day was approximately IR#138 based on a truncated negative binomial model ...

Derivative MUSIC angle estimation
Proceedings of the IEEE 1997 National Aerospace and Electronics Conference. NAECON 1997, 2002A planar array spatial spectrum estimator has been developed from an extension to a-MUSIC (1995), for discriminating between two closely spaced sources over a wide range of signal correlations. For two closely spaced and/or correlated signals, the second eigenvector in the signal subspace is not observable since the signal covariance matrix tends to be

Estimation of vehicle roll angle
2010 4th International Symposium on Communications, Control and Signal Processing (ISCCSP), 2010In modern vehicles a large number of signal measurements related to vehicle dynamics is available. While hard cost constraints in the automotive industry imply that a single control system is equipped with a minimal number of sensors, the combination of sensors from different systems can be used to establish new information via signal processing.

On the Estimation of Angle Rate in Radar
IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2017The direct measurement of the angle rate of moving objects using a radar with a spatially diverse electric field pattern, a measurement analogous to the measurement of the range rate of a moving objects, represents, along with the measurements of range, range rate, and angle, a fourth basic radar measurement.

Estimation of slip angles using a model based estimator and GPS
Proceedings of the 2004 American Control Conference, 2004This paper demonstrates a method for estimating key vehicle states and sensor biases using Global Positioning System (GPS) and an Internal Navigation System (INS). Two Kalman filters, a model based filter and a kinematic filter, are used to integrate the INS sensors with GPS heading and velocity to provide a high update rate of the vehicle states and ...
