Importance of low-angle grain boundaries in YBa2Cu3O7-delta coated conductors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Over the past ten years the perception of grain boundaries in YBa2Cu3O7−δ conductors has changed greatly. They are now not a problem to be eliminated, but an inevitable and potentially favourable part of the material.

Performance Degradation in Monopulse Angle Measurement of Planar Phased-Array Due to Cross-Polarization Component

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Due to the high-precision angle measurement performance, the monopulse technique plays a key role in fields such as remote sensing and space surveillance. The accuracy of monopulse angle measurement depends on the received amplitude and phase information,

Height Compensation Using Ground Inclination Estimation in Inertial Sensor-Based Pedestrian Navigation

open access: yesSensors, 2011
In an inertial sensor-based pedestrian navigation system, the position is estimated by double integrating external acceleration. A new algorithm is proposed to reduce z axis position (height) error. When a foot is on the ground, a foot angle is estimated

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Superhydrophobic surfaces: a model approach to predict contact angle and surface energy of soil particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Wettability of soil affects a wide variety of processes including infiltration, preferential flow and surface runoff. The problem of determining contact angles and surface energy of powders, such as soil particles, remains unsolved.

Radiographic measurement of Lateral Capitellohumeral Angle and Baumann’s Angle among Children

open access: yesJournal of Nepal Health Research Council, 2022
Background: Baumann’s angle and Lateral capitellohumeral angle measurements are essential to check the degree of reduction in supracondylar fracture of humerus in children.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Measurement of timing belt angle transfer accuracy in angle metrology applications

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2023
The use and characteristics of timing belts are well-known for power transmission, but data regarding their suitability for use in dimensional metrology is far less available.
