Thermochemical conversion of animal by-products and rendering products
Waste Management, 2018This paper presents a preliminary study of the characterization of real waste from slaughterhouses as well as their rendering products (protein and fat) through different pyrolytic techniques: thermogravimetric analysis (TG), analytical pyrolysis in a pyroprobe equipment and hydrothermal liquefaction process (HTL). The experiments have allowed a deeper

Salmonella in livestock and animal by-products in Ethiopia
Tropical Animal Health and Production, 1981Samples derived from farm livestock, an abattoir and a bone factory, were examined for salmonella. Twenty-seven serotypes were detected in 130 infected samples. A bone factory product was heavily infected. Salmonellosis is considered to be an important disease of dromedary calves and poultry in Ethiopia.

Biogenic amines in Australian animal by-product meals
Australian Journal of Experimental Agriculture, 2003Biogenic amines were determined in Australian by-product meals including fish meals, poultry meals, meat meals, feather meals and blood meals. They were extracted with 0.1 mol/L HCl, derivatised with dansyl chloride and analysed using HPLC with UV detection at 254 nm.

Animal Feed and Fuel By-Products
1991The waste products of the agricultural and food industry have long been used as fertilizers and animal feeds, and to make special nonfood products such as fuels, in the form of methane gas and alcohols. Methane gas production usually is generated from waste water and will be discussed in Chapter 22.

Disposal of Bergamot By-Products by Animal Productions
2020The objective of this study was to investigate the utilization of bergamot by-product in monogastric and poligastric diets, as an interesting alternative to dispose this surplus. In ovine productions, 27 lambs were divided in three groups and fed for 90 days with 3 different diets: one group of lambs (C) was fed only concentrate while the other groups ...

Nutritional Evaluation of Irradiated Animal Protein By-Products
Isotopenpraxis Isotopes in Environmental and Health Studies, 1991Blood, fish and meat-bone meals were irradiated at dose levels of 0, 5, 10, 20 and 50 kGy. Radiation induced an insignificant effect on the chemical composition of meals. Available lysine in irradiated fish meals was reduced by 8,04%. Losses occured in some amino acids especially the essential ones of the irradiated protein by-products.

Suppression of nematode populations with animal by-products
Bioresource Technology, 1995Abstract The incorporation of blood, fish and meat wastes into the soil was effective in reducing the populations of plant-parasitic nematodes and improved pigeon pea ( Cajunus cajan L.) plant growth. Lower dosages (1 and 5% (w/w)) gave the best responses and the highest dose (10% (w/w)) showed phytotoxic effects.
