Multi-omics profiling reveals Poria cocos polysaccharides mitigate PEDV-induced intestinal injury by modulating lipid metabolism in piglets

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science and Biotechnology
Background Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) infection poses a significant challenge to the swine industry, with limited effective control measures available. Poria cocos polysaccharides (PCP) is the primary active ingredient of Poria cocos, and has

Land sharing vs. land sparing for biodiversity: How agricultural markets make the difference : Working Paper N° TSE-435 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We show that between intensive and extensive farming, the production method most beneficial to biodiversity depends on the equilibrium of agricultural markets.

Structurally Colored Physically Unclonable Functions with Ultra‐Rich and Stable Encoding Capacity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
This study reports a design strategy for generating bright‐field resolvable physically unclonable functions with extremely rich encoding capacity coupled with outstanding thermal and chemical stability. The optical response emerges from thickness‐dependent structural color formation in ZnO features, which are fabricated by physical vapor deposition ...

Effects of starch and gelatin encapsulated vitamin A on growth performance, immune status and antioxidant capacity in weaned piglets

open access: yesAnimal Nutrition, 2020
To evaluate the effects of gelatin and starch encapsulated vitamin A on growth performance, immune status and antioxidant capacity in weaned piglets, a total of 96 weaned piglets (body weight = 9.11 ± 0.03 kg, 30-d-old) were randomly allotted to 3 ...

Time‐Controlled Dual Targeting to Program Systemic and Intercellular Transfer of Therapeutic Effects

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Aspirin‐liposomes loaded onto monocytes enable inflammation‐triggered targeting and efficient hand‐over of aspirin to inflamed cells. Monocytes uptake a significant portion of aspirin‐liposomes, prolonging therapeutic action. This approach enhances anti‐inflammatory effects through intercellular transfer, demonstrating a translational strategy for ...

Biologically‐Inspired Melt Electrowriting for the Generation of Highly Biomimetic Functional Myocardium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.

Detection of Sulfonamides in Animal Feeds

open access: yesJournal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, 1976
Abstract The animal feed sample is extracted with ethanol or acetone and the extract is evaporated to dryness. Another portion of the same sample, spiked at the 3 ppm level with 8 sulfonamides, is similarly extracted and the extract is evaporated to dryness.
