The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

BRONCHOPULMONARY ANASTOMOSES IN FŒETAL, NEWBORN AND ADULT ANIMALS [PDF]

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of Experimental Physiology and Cognate Medical Sciences, 1966
Anastomoses between the bronchial and pulmonary arteries were studied by means of neoprene casts and by injection of a radiopaque substance or dyes. In fœtal lambs and newborn kittens and puppies there were numerous precapillary connections between the two arterial systems, the bronchial arteries appearing as branches of the pulmonary artery.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Educational animation about home care with premature newborn infants [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Enfermagem, 2018
ABSTRACT Objective: to elaborate and validate animation on the care of premature newborn infants at home. Method: Methodological study in three stages: integrative review on home care; animation design based on Roper, Logan and Tierney’s Model named “Activities of Living” (ALs), and validation of content and appearance by neonatology specialists.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

A Comparative Study of Coagulation Systems in Newborn Animals [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Research, 1986
Appropriate animal experimentation can enhance our understanding of thrombotic and hemorrhagic problems in the human neonate. Which newborn animal species' coagulation system most closely resembles the human neonate is unknown. The objective of the study was to assess the newborn coagulation system in four animal species and compare them with the human
