Anion-anion and cation-cation complexes
Stable minima showing halogen [1-2] or hydrogen bonds [2-8] between charged molecules with the same sign have been explored by means of theoretical calculations. In spite of the ionic repulsion, local energy minima are found both in the gas phase (Fig. 1a) and in aqueous solution.
