Anisometropic Amblyopia

Ophthalmology, 1991
One hundred twenty-four patients with anisometropia of 1 diopter or greater and amblyopia were reviewed as to the type and amount of anisometropia, whether or not they had consulted with an ophthalmologist, visual acuity before and after treatment, and type of treatment.

Therapy of Anisometropic Amblyopia

Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, 1981
In 67 patients with strictly anisometropic amblyopia, we found statistically significant correlations among three measurable parameters: the vision before treatment, the amount of anisometropia and the vision after treatment. The predetermined factors associated with success of treatment were 1) lower amounts of anisometropia, particularly less than ...

Physiological Basis of Anisometropic Amblyopia

Science, 1978
In the visual cortex of kittens that have received their only visual experience while wearing a high-power lens before one eye, most neurons are dominated by input from the normal eye. Moreover, contrast sensitivity and resolving power are lower for stimulation through the originally defocused eye, mimicking psychophysical results from human ...

Anisometropic Amblyopia and Its Treatment

Southern Medical Journal, 1977
Full optical correction and closely supervised occlusion were effective in producing substantial visual improvement in 15 of 17 patients with anisometropic amblyopia. The age of patients varied from 2 to 12 years and all were followed for at least one year.

Anisometropic Amblyopia

Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, 1980
One hundred seventy-two consecutive cases of pure anisometropic amblyopia have been studied. Of them 167 were anisohypermetropic and five of them were anisomyopic. The majority of the cases (65.1%) were teenagers. A difference of 1 to 2 diopters between the two eyes formed the single largest group comprising 28.5% cases.
