Late Recurrence of Anisometropic Amblyopia

Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus
A 15-year-old boy whose anisometropic amblyopia was effectively treated with glasses was examined. Despite years of stability, his visual acuity decreased from 20/20 to 20/60 with poor glasses compliance. Although amblyopia recurrence is well recognized, this case emphasizes potential late recurrence after prolonged success.

Anisometropic Amblyopia and Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction

Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, 2009

The authors describe five children with nasolacrimal duct obstruction who developed anisometropic amblyopia in the same eye. Because three children had no indication of vision loss at their initial presentation, cycloplegic refraction and periodic visual acuity screenings for such patients is recommended.

LASIK in Children With Hyperopic Anisometropic Amblyopia

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2008
Purpose To evaluate the results of LASIK for hyperopia in pediatric eyes with amblyopia resulting from anisometropia. Methods Thirty-two children with anisometropic amblyopia in whom conventional therapy was unsuccessful underwent unilateral LASIK between 1999 and 2005. Mean patient

Anisometropic Amblyopia: Nonsurgical Treatment

American Orthoptic Journal, 2007
Introduction: Anisometropia is the leading cause of amblyopia, and research suggests that it too often goes undiagnosed and untreated. To assist with early detection of amblyogenic risk factors (media opacities, strabismus, and/or refractive error), the vision screening committee of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus ...

Distant stereoacuity in children with anisometropic amblyopia

Japanese Journal of Ophthalmology, 2017
To characterize changes in distant stereoacuity using Frisby-Davis Distance test (FD2) and Distant Randot test (DR) during treatment for anisometropic amblyopia, to determine factors that influence posttreatment stereoacuity and to compare the two distant stereotests.Fifty-eight anisometropic amblyopic patients with an interocular difference of ≥1.00 ...

Increment threshold spectral sensitivity in anisometropic amblyopia

Vision Research, 1977
Abstract Increment threshold spectral sensitivity curves were determined for amblyopic and non-amblyopic eyes with four adapting field intensity levels. The sensitivity of the amblyopic eye compared to the non-amblyopic eye was lower across the entire visible spectrum and did not show the dip in the yellow region of the spectrum that was ...

Laser in situ Keratomileusis for Anisometropic Amblyopia

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2000
ABSTRACT PURPOSE: To evaluate the efficacy and benefit of laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) for correction of anisometropic amblyopia. METHODS: LASER was performed in 21 eyes of 21 anisometropic amblyopes with a mean age of 27.71 ± 12.24 years. Three patients were less than 18 years of age.

Spatial information and uncertainty in anisometropic amblyopia

Vision Research, 1987
Anisometropic amblyopes were found to have a reduced sensitivity for shape discrimination. The introduction of positional jitter in the elements of the display had a profound effect on the performance of the normal eye, but not on that of the amblyopic eye.

Successful Treatment of Anisometropic Amblyopia with Spectacles Alone

Journal of American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, 2006
The efficacy of treating anisometropic amblyopia with occlusion therapy is well known. However, this form of treatment can be associated with risks. Spectacle correction alone may be a successful and underutilized form of treatment. The records of 28 patients treated successfully for anisometropic amblyopia with glasses alone were reviewed. Age, initial

Treatment of amblyopia in strongly anisometropic eyes

Documenta Ophthalmologica, 1985
Following a hypothesis concerning the image-size on the retina the problem is discussed as to which of the various correction methods is to be preferred in the case of severe anisometropia. We treated nine anisometropic patients for amblyopia using contact lens correction.
