A Diagnosis of Anisotropic Eddy Diffusion From a High‐Resolution Global Ocean Model

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, 2020
Oceanic mesoscale eddies are known to diffuse and stir tracers, and the development of skillful eddy closures is aided considerably by the accurate diagnosis of these processes from eddy‐resolving model statistics.

Compact Anisotropic Metasurface for Full Range and Arbitrary Complex-Amplitude Control

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2022
A novel method for complex amplitude manipulation of spin light is proposed based on a double-layer compact anisotropic metasurface. A new degree of freedom (DOF) is introduced through independently rotating the two layers to achieve a full range control

Anisotropic enhanced backscattering induced by anisotropic diffusion

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2004
The enhanced backscattering cone displaying a strong anisotropy from a material with anisotropic diffusion is reported. The constructive interference of the wave is preserved in the helicity preserving polarization channel and completely lost in the nonpreserving one. The internal reflectivity at the interface modifies the width of the backscatter cone.

Kinetic description of mixtures of anisotropic fluids

open access: yes, 2014
A simple system of coupled kinetic equations for quark and gluon anisotropic systems is solved numerically. The solutions are compared with the predictions of the anisotropic hydrodynamics describing a mixture of anisotropic fluids.

Highly anisotropic resistivities in the double-exchange model for strained manganites

open access: yes, 2010
The highly anisotropic resistivities in strained manganites are theoretically studied using the two-orbital double-exchange model. At the nanoscale, the anisotropic double-exchange and Jahn-Teller distortions are found to be responsible for the robust ...

Anisotropic materials in OLEDs for high outcoupling efficiency [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present the results of an optical study in which we evaluate the effect of anisotropic electron transport layers (ETL) and anisotropic hole transport layers (HTL) on the outcoupling efficiency of bottom emitting organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs ...

Amphoteric refraction at the interface between isotropic and anisotropic media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
It is found that the amphoteric refraction, i.e. the refraction can be either positive or negative depending on the incident angles, could occur at a planar interface associated with a uniaxially anisotropic positive index media (PIM) or an anisotropic ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Anisotropic quintessence stars [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysics and Space Science, 2013
We propose a relativistic model for quintessence stars with the combination of an anisotropic pressure corresponding to normal matter and a quintessence dark energy having a characteristic parameter q such that ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...
