S-wave propagating in an anisotropic inhomogeneous elastic medium under the influence of gravity, initial stress, electric and magnetic field [PDF]

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics, 2014
The purpose of this paper is to study the effect of gravity, initial stress, non-homogeneity, electric and magnetic field on the propagation of shear waves in an anisotropic incompressible medium. Various graphs are plotted to show the effect of

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Additive Gaussian Process Regression for Predictive Design of High‐Performance, Printable Silicones

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A chemistry‐aware design framework for tuning printable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for vat photopolymerization (VPP) is developed using additive Gaussian process (GP) modeling. Polymer network mechanics informs variable groupings, feasible formulation constraints, and interaction variables.

Performance of periodic piezoelectric composite arrays incorporating a passive phase exhibiting anisotropic properties

open access: yes, 2006
This paper explores the minimisation of interelement cross talk in 1-D and 2-D periodic composite array structures through the incorporation of a passive phase exhibiting anisotropic elastic properties.

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Adaptive pre-filtering techniques for colour image analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
One important step in the process of colour image segmentation is to reduce the errors caused by image noise and local colour inhomogeneities. This can be achieved by filtering the data with a smoothing operator that eliminates the noise and the ...

An in-depth study of the synthesis of ReSe2 for anisotropic Raman characteristics

open access: yesJPhys Materials
Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have received more interest for their potential role in future electronic and optoelectronic applications. Unlike other TMDs, Rhenium diselenide (ReSe _2 ) stands out for its distinctive anisotropic

High Relative Humidity‐Induced Growth of Perovskite Nanowires from Glass toward Single‐Mode Photonic Nanolasers at Sub‐100‐nm Scale

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Metal halide perovskites (MHPs) have achieved substantial progress in their applications; however, their ionic crystal character and low formation energy result in poor structural stability and limited morphological tunability.
