Anisotropic Cardiac Conduction

open access: yesArrhythmia & Electrophysiology Review, 2020
Anisotropy is the property of directional dependence. In cardiac tissue, conduction velocity is anisotropic and its orientation is determined by myocyte direction. Cell shape and size, excitability, myocardial fibrosis, gap junction distribution and function are all considered to contribute to anisotropic conduction.

Minimal geometric deformation decoupling in $2+1$ dimensional space-times

open access: yes, 2018
We study the minimal geometric deformation decoupling in $2+1$ dimensional space--times and implement it as a tool for obtaining anisotropic solutions from isotropic geometries.

Normal‐Appearing White Matter Injury Mediates Chronic Deep Venous Hypoxia and Disease Progression in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore how cerebral hypoxia and Normal‐Appearing White Matter (NAWM) integrity affect MS lesion burden and clinical course. Methods Seventy‐nine MS patients, including 13 clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients and 66 relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients, and 44 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited from ...

Anisotropic Heat Transfer in Plane of Carbon Fabrics Reinforced Geopolymer Composite

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Heat transfer within carbon fiber in the geopolymer composite is predicted from parallel in phase to a perpendicular direction within the fabrics. Temperature distribution is higher along the fiber axis with a perpendicular position.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Sound propagation and Mach cone in anisotropic hydrodynamics

open access: yes, 2019
This letter is based on a kinetic theory approach to anisotropic hydrodynamics. We derive the sound wave equation in anisotropic hydrodynamics and show that a corresponding wave front is ellipsoidal.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Model anisotropic quantum Hall states

open access: yes, 2012
Model quantum Hall states including Laughlin, Moore-Read and Read-Rezayi states are generalized into appropriate anisotropic form. The generalized states are exact zero-energy eigenstates of corresponding anisotropic two- or multi-body Hamiltonians, and ...
