Temporal Changes in Phosphatidylserine Expression and Glucose Metabolism after Myocardial Infarction: An in Vivo Imaging Study in Mice

open access: yesMolecular Imaging, 2012
Positron emission tomography (PET) for in vivo monitoring of phosphatidylserine externalization and glucose metabolism can potentially provide early predictors of outcome of cardioprotective therapies after myocardial infarction. We performed serial [ 68

Internalization of annexin A5-functionalized iron oxide particles by apoptotic Jurkat cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Apoptosis plays an important role in the etiology of various diseases. Several studies have reported on the use of annexin A5-functionalized iron oxide particles for the detection of apoptosis with MRI, both in vitro and in vivo.

Irgm1 Improves Postinfarction Cardiac Repair by Promoting Neutrophil Clearance and Efferocytosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 21, 13 April 2026.
The Irgm1‐PDIA3 axis enhances post‐infarction cardiac repair by accelerating neutrophil clearance and facilitating efferocytosis. Irgm1 holds potential as a prognostic biomarker in MI, and LOC14 may represent a therapeutic option to improve cardiac repair, especially in cases of Irgm1 deficiency.

Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomographic Imaging of the Early Time Course of Therapy-Induced Cell Death Using Technetium 99m Tricarbonyl His-Annexin A5 in a Colorectal Cancer Xenograft Model

open access: yesMolecular Imaging, 2012
As apoptosis occurs over an interval of time after administration of apoptosis-inducing therapy in tumors, the changes in technetium 99m ( 99m Tc)-tricarbonyl (CO) 3 His-annexin A5 (His-ann A5) accumulation over time were examined.

Immunohistochemistry analysis of Annexin A2, Annexin A4, Annexin A5, 14-3-3 ζ/δ, and Ras related protein Rap1A in placenta villi from GDM and NGT (Control) groups.

open access: yes, 2012
Annexin A2, Annexin A4, Annexin A5, 14-3-3 ζ/δ and Ras related protein Rap1A are mainly expressed in trophoblast cells of placenta villi. Magnification: 200x Arrows: indicate location of each protein. Bar: 50 µm.

Spatial and single‐cell RNA sequencing reveals the immune microenvironment of human ascending thoracic aortic aneurysms

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
This study has used integrated single‐cell RNA sequencing and Visium HD spatial transcriptomics to construct a high‐resolution immune cell atlas of human ascending thoracic aortic aneurysms (ATAA). The analysis reveals distinct immune cell composition and interactions in ATAA tissues, providing new insights into immune dysregulation and vascular ...

Key role of the N-terminus of chicken annexin A5 in vesicle aggregation

open access: yes, 2009
Annexins are calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding proteins involved in calcium signaling and intracellular membrane trafficking among other functions.

ADAR1 Controls Macrophage Scavenging and Lipid‐Buffering Programs in Metabolic Tissues

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 4, April 2026.
ADAR1 expression increase during monocyte‐to‐macrophage differentiation via an alternative transcription start site. Isoform‐specific ADAR1 activity governs key macrophage functions, including efferocytosis, endocytosis, lipid metabolism, and proliferation.

Annexin-A5 promotes membrane resealing in human trophoblasts

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Cell Research, 2015
Annexin-A5 (AnxA5) is the smallest member of the annexins, a group of soluble proteins that bind to membranes containing negatively-charged phospholipids, principally phosphatidylserine, in a Ca(2+)-dependent manner. AnxA5 presents unique properties of binding and self-assembling on membrane surfaces, forming highly ordered two-dimensional (2D) arrays.
