Community succession of the grapevine fungal microbiome in the annual growth cycle [PDF]
Summary Microbial ecology and activity in wine production influences grapevine health and productivity, conversion of sugar to ethanol during fermentation, wine aroma, wine quality and distinctiveness. Fungi in the vineyard ecosystem are not well described. Here, we characterized the spatial and temporal dynamics of fungal communities

Annual radial growth cycle of grapevine trunk in the tropics
The annual radial trunk growth cycle in V. vinifera var. Anab-e-Shahi was studied in the tropics where the vines are pruned twice a year. Although vines grow continuously without any period of dormancy, a consistant pattern of maximum girth increment from April to September altemating with negligible increment from October to March was observed.

Influence of water stress on grapevines growing in the field : from leaf to whole-plant response [PDF]
International audienceA comparative study of soil-plant water relations was conducted on three grapevine cultivars (Vitis vinifera L. cvv. carignane, merlot, shiraz) to investigate their adjustment to short-term and long-term water stress under field ...

A cellular automaton framework for within-field vineyard variance and grape production simulation [PDF]
Winegrowers for generations know it all too well that grapes harvested from different areas within a vineyard will produce wines of different flavours, mainly due to within-field variance in vine vigour caused by environmental variability from various ...

Management of service crops for the provision of ecosystem services in vineyards: A review [PDF]
Service crops are crops grown with the aim of providing non-marketed ecosystem services, i.e. differing from food, fiber and fuel production. Vineyard soils face various agronomic issues such as poor organic carbon levels, erosion, fertility losses, and ...
