Direct Computation of an Annular Liquid Jet
An Eulerian approach with mixed-fluid treatment has been used to study the flow field of an annular liquid jet in a compressible gas medium. A mathematical formulation is developed which is capable of representing the two-phase flow system with the gas ...

Heterodimeric amino acid transporters consist of SLC7 and SLC3 family proteins arranged in a conserved structural organization. They regulate nutrient transport across cell membranes, supporting essential cellular functions. These transporters also contribute to xenobiotic/drug uptake and distribution.

The method of fundamental solutions for annular shaped domains
In order to solve the 2D Dirichlet problem for Laplace's equation the author utilizes the collocation Trefftz method. One uses the fundamental solutions as admissible functions. A group of fundamental solutions (sources) are unifomly located on an outside circle of the bounded simply-connected domain and two groups of fundamental solutions are ...

The ubiquitin system in normal and infected germinal center B cells
The ubiquitin system plays a central role in germinal center (GC) B cells, influencing differentiation to long‐lived memory B cells. Oncogenic gammaherpesviruses gain access to memory B cells by establishing latency in GC B cells. Mapping ubiquitin mechanisms in normal and infected GC B cells will define specific molecular circuits in B cells germane ...

Transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins may be ‘invisible’ to direct detection yet remain accessible to solution NMR through equilibrium‐exchange measurements and pressure‐jump experiments. Complementary methods report on mass, stoichiometry, selected distance distributions, morphology, and internal packing.

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

We describe a shape derivative approach to provide a candidate for an optimal domain among non-simply connected planar domains with two boundary components. This approach is an adaptation of the work on the extremal eigenvalue problem for the Wentzell-Laplace operator developed by Dambrine, Kateb and Lamboley.

Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...
