Clinical Course and Impact of Breaks in Therapy for Children With Relapsed/Refractory Solid Tumors
ABSTRACT Introduction Pediatric relapsed or refractory (R/R) solid tumors carry a dismal prognosis, and postrelapse patient experiences are not well described. We present postrelapse outcomes, including number of R/R events and subsequent therapy regimens.

Pronounced softening of a Zr-based metallic glass in micro annular gap flow
While shear softening is widely acknowledged inflow of metallic glasses (MGs), the underlying structural origin remains obscure. Here a Zr35Ti30Be26.75Cu8.25 MG was squeezed into annular gaps of an exterior diameter of 300 µm and widths of 5∼150 µm by ...

ABSTRACT Hemoglobinopathies are prevalent globally; diagnosis is complex in high genetic admixture populations like Brazil. We report, in two pediatric siblings, the first documented cases in Brazil of heterozygosity for hemoglobin (Hb) O‐Arab with coinheritance of α‐thalassemia (αα/−α4.2; −α3.7/−α4.2), resulting in microcytic and hypochromic anemia ...

Src Regulation of Cx43 Phosphorylation and Gap Junction Turnover
The gap junction protein Connexin43 (Cx43) is highly regulated by phosphorylation at over a dozen sites by probably at least as many kinases. This Cx43 “kinome” plays an important role in gap junction assembly and turnover.

Cooperative cell–cell actin network remodeling to perform Gap junction endocytosis
Background The endocytosis of Gap junction plaques (GJP) requires cytoskeletal forces to internalize such large membranous structures. Actin, which partners the connexin proteins constituting Gap junctions and is located close to Annular Gap Junctions ...

GAMMA-RAY EMISSION FROM THE VELA PULSAR MODELED WITH THE ANNULAR GAP AND THE CORE GAP [PDF]
The Vela pulsar represents a distinct group of -ray pulsars. Fermi -ray observations reveal that it has two sharp peaks (P1 and P2) in the light curve with a phase separation of 0.42 and a third peak (P3) in the bridge. The location and intensity of P3 are energy-dependent.

Implementing Health‐Related Quality of Life Assessment in Pediatric Oncology: A Feasibility Study
ABSTRACT Background There is growing interest in embedding health‐related quality of life (HRQoL) assessment and patient‐reported outcome measures (PROMs) within clinical cancer care. This study evaluated the feasibility, acceptability, and usability of implementing an electronic PROM (ePROM) platform to measure HRQoL in children with cancer ...
