Harmonic properties of the annular membrane

Properties of a vibrating annular membrane are analyzed mathematically and numerically to investigate the relative harmonicity of the higher-order modes compared with the fundamental mode. The harmonicity depends on the zeros of a cross-product of Bessel functions.

AbstractA modeling and experimental study of the core‐annular flow (CAF) was carried out with a viscous liquid membrane emulsion as the core and an aqueous solution as the annulus. A hydrodynamic model has been developed for stable CAF with a centered, nondeformable core surrounded by a turbulent aqueous annulus with or without a drag reducer.

Exact Vibration Solutions of Nonhomogeneous Circular, Annular and Sector Membranes

In this paper, exact vibration frequencies of circular, annular and sector membranes with a radial power law density are presented for the first time. It is found that in general, the sequence of modes may not correspond to increasing azimuthal mode number n. The normalized frequency increases with the absolute value of the power index |n|.

Forced Vibration of Damped Circular and Annular Membranes

The response of circular and annular membranes to sinusoidal vibration is described theoretically. In contrast to prior investigations, emphasis is placed here on the forced vibration of membranes with damping, which is accounted for by writing the membrane tension as a complex quantity.
