Symmetrical Solutions for Edge-Loaded Annular Elastic Membranes

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 2009
The Föppl–Hencky nonlinear membrane theory is employed to study the axisymmetric deformation of annular elastic membranes. The general solutions for displacements and stresses are established for arbitrary edge boundary conditions. New exact solution results are developed for central loading and edge forcing conditions.

Nonlinear Oscillations of Hyperelastic Annular Membranes With Varying Density

Volume 8: 29th Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, 2017
This research presents the mathematical modeling for the nonlinear oscillations analysis of a pre-stretched hyperelastic annular membrane with varying density under finite deformations. The membrane material is assumed to be homogeneous, isotropic, and neo-Hookean and the variation of the membrane density in the radial direction is investigated.

Wrinkle-free solutions in the theory of annular elastic membranes

ZAMP Zeitschrift fr angewandte Mathematik und Physik, 1991
Rotationally symmetric deformations for which both principal stresses are nonnegative everywhere in a flat annular membrane subjected to an axial surface load, are treated. The mathematical formulation leads to some nonlinear two-point boundary value problem (b.v.p.) for the axisymmetric deformations with also nonlinear boundary condition.

Instability of two annular layers or a liquid thread bounded by an elastic membrane

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2000
The instability of an annular layer coated on the interior side of an outer circular tube and surrounding another annular layer coated on the exterior side of an inner circular tube, is studied in the absence of an imposed flow due to a pressure gradient or boundary motion.
