A Machine Learning‐Based Dynamic SST Index for Long‐Lead Malaria Prediction in the Peruvian Amazon
Abstract Malaria imposes a major health burden in the Peruvian Amazon, and its early warning is essential for effective disease prevention. The tropical sea surface temperature (SST) variability, fundamentally shaping the global weather patterns, may also alter malaria transmission and potentially improve its long‐lead predictability. In this study, we

Insecticide Resistance and Its Intensity in Populations of Malaria Vectors in Colombia
Insecticide resistance in malaria vectors threatens malaria prevention and control efforts. In Colombia the three primary vectors, Anopheles darlingi, An. nuneztovari s.l., and An. albimanus, have reported insecticide resistance to pyrethroids, organophosphates, carbamates, and DDT; however, the insecticide resistance monitoring is not continuous, and ...

ABSTRACT Vector control remains an important strategy worldwide to prevent human infection with pathogens transmitted by arthropods. Vector control strategies rely on accurate identification of vector taxa along with vector‐specific biological indicators such as feeding ecology, infection prevalence and insecticide resistance.

Reduction of Mosquito Survival in Mice Vaccinated with Anopheles stephensi Glucose Transporter
Despite the fact that recent efforts to control/eradicate malaria have contributed to a significant decrease in the number of cases and deaths, the disease remains a global health challenge. Vaccines based on mosquito salivary gland antigens are a potential approach for reducing vector populations and malaria parasites.

Fat body (FB) acts as a major metabolic center important for the regulation of a variety of physiological processes such as embryogenesis, reproduction, flight, overwintering, protection, and communication. Lipid amounts and fatty acid (FA) composition vary with species, stage of life, and their diet.

Phyloproteomic Analysis of 11780 Six‐Residue‐Long Motifs Occurrences
How is it possible to find good traits for phylogenetic reconstructions? Here, we present a new phyloproteomic criterion that is an occurrence of simple motifs which can be imprints of evolution history. We studied the occurrences of 11780 six‐residue‐long motifs consisting of two randomly located amino acids in 97 eukaryotic and 25 bacterial proteomes.

Current stewardship practices in invasion biology limit the value and secondary use of genomic data
Abstract Invasive species threaten native biota, putting fragile ecosystems at risk and having a large‐scale impact on primary industries. Growing trade networks and the popularity of personal travel make incursions a more frequent risk, one only compounded by global climate change.
