Quarenta e cinco RN que apresentaram a síndrome da hiperexcitabilidade, após 72 horas de vida, constituiram o grupo de estudo. Distúrbios metabólicos foram identificados em 53% dos casos, sendo a hipocalcemia o mais freqüente.

Proton‐Coupled Electron Transfer in Cytochrome c Oxidase: Heme a Controls the Protonation Dynamics of E286

ChemPhysChem, EarlyView.
Deprotonation of the glutamic acid 286 in cytochrome c oxidase from Cereibacter sphaeroides occurs 13 μs after photolysis of the CO ligand. The reaction is triggered by subsequent backward electron transfer from the heme a3 to heme a, which immediately precedes the deprotonation event.
