The Cavβ4 subunit of Cav1.2 channels antagonizes isoproterenol‐induced hypertrophy in rat cardiac muscle cells by down‐regulating miR‐183‐5p

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 15, August 2026.
Abstract The Cavβ4 subunit of voltage‐gated Cav1.2 channels regulates gene expression in neurons and cardiac cells. It increases the expression of interferon‐β–related genes in H9c2 cardiomyocytes derived from rat ventricular tissue, but the possibility that it also regulates the expression of microRNAs (miRs) remains unexplored.

S‐Adenosyl‐d‐Methionine as a Non‐Physiological Substrate for a Wide Range of SAM‐Dependent Enzymes

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 14, 29 July 2026.
From methylation and cyclisation to radical chemistry, diverse enzyme classes utilise the non‐canonical cofactor d‐SAM. These findings reveal an unexpected tolerance of SAM‐dependent catalysis towards inversion of the methionine Cα stereocentre. The ability of SAM‐dependent enzymes to accept S‐adenosyl‐d‐methionine [d‐SAM, (SS,RCα)‐SAM] instead of the ...

Lessons Learned on Obtaining Reliable Conductivity Estimates From Molecular Dynamics Simulations

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 27, Issue 14, 29 July 2026.
We present the newly implemented “conduct” module for TRAVIS. It allows the calculation of ionic conductivities from molecular dynamics simulations using the Einstein–Helfand and Green–Kubo approaches. We provide a broad overview of accessible transport properties and compare methods and best practices for obtaining statistically reliable estimates. To

Rapid Morphological Changes in the Intertidal Zone of the Ganges‐Brahmaputra Delta Revealed by SWOT Altimetry Mission

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 14, 28 July 2026.
Abstract Intertidal zones of the Ganges‐Brahmaputra (GB) delta are among the most active coastal environments worldwide, and quantifying their morphological evolution remains challenging due to rapid change and scarce in situ observations. This study presents a satellite‐based direct quantification of intertidal sediment volume change in the Meghna ...
