Endophytic Trichoderma Species Isolated from Persea americana and Cinnamomum verum Roots Reduce Symptoms Caused by Phytophthora cinnamomi in Avocado

open access: yesPlants, 2020
Avocado root rot caused by the oomycete Phytophthora cinnamomi is a severe disease that affects avocado production in Mexico and worldwide. The use of biological control agents such as Trichoderma species isolated from places where the disease is always ...

Fusarium rot of onion and possible use of bioproduct [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik Matice Srpske za Prirodne Nauke, 2008
Several species of Fusarium are causal agents of onion rot in field and storage. Most prevalent are F. oxysporum f. sp. cepae and F. solani, and recently F. proliferatum, a toxigenic species. Most frequently isolated fungi in our field experiments were F.

Whole-Genome Characterization of Inonotus hispidus from Ulmus macrocarpa and Its Comparative Genomics with Strains from Morus alba and Acer truncatum

open access: yesJournal of Fungi
Inonotus hispidus growing on Morus alba is traditionally regarded as the authentic source of the medicinal fungus. However, this species is also found on other host trees, such as Ulmus macrocarpa and Acer truncatum; yet, whether these strains share ...

Effectiveness of composts and Trichoderma strains for control of Fusarium wilt of tomato

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2015
Fusarium wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici (FOL) is a major limiting disease in tomato production in Morocco. Commercial and locally produced Moroccan composts and peat were found to reduce Fusarium wilt in tomato plants.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Dual therapy with corticosteroid ablates the beneficial effect of DP2 antagonism in chronic experimental asthma

open access: yesNature Communications
Prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) signals via the DP1 and DP2 receptors. In Phase II trials, DP2 antagonism decreased airway inflammation and airway smooth muscle (ASM) area in moderate-to-severe asthma patients.

Effect of Pseudomonas protegens EMM-1 Against Rhizopus oryzae in Interactions with Mexican Autochthonous Red Maize

open access: yesLife
In the present study, the strain Rhizopus oryzae EMM was isolated from germinated autochthonous red maize seeds, which were harvested in a region of San Diego-Buenavista, Papalotla, Tlaxcala, Mexico, where cobs with fungal infections have been observed ...

Remarks on Antagonism [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Epidemiology, 2011
Different forms of antagonism are classified in terms of response types and are related to the sufficient-cause framework. These forms of antagonism include "synergy under recoding of an exposure," "synergism under recoding of the outcome," and so-called "competing response types," with synergism itself conceived of as causal co-action within the ...

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...
