Tracing the Migration of Fronts in the Pacific Southern Ocean Across the Mid‐Pleistocene Transition
Abstract The Southern Ocean is a key driver of global climate variability, yet its dynamics during the Mid‐Pleistocene Transition (MPT; ∼1.25–0.7 Ma) remain poorly understood, especially in the South Pacific sector. The Polar Frontal Zone (PFZ) underwent significant latitudinal shifts during this critical period of climate reorganization.

Archaeal Tetraether Lipids as Tracers for Past Marine Environmental Change
Abstract Archaea are single‐celled microorganisms that are abundant in marine environments and play a key role in the carbon and nitrogen cycles. Archaea can biosynthesize a wide variety of isoprenoid membrane lipids, including isoprenoid glycerol dibiphytanyl glycerol tetraethers (isoGDGTs).

Abstract The Indian‐Atlantic Ocean Gateway modulates interocean exchange and influences large‐scale ocean circulation, including the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation. Site U1479 (Cape Basin; IODP Expedition 361) lies at the Benguela‐Agulhas transition and records interactions among the Indian, Atlantic, and Southern Ocean basins during the ...

Neogene Stable Carbon Isotopic Evolution of the Atmosphere and Low‐Latitude Surface Ocean
Abstract We reconstruct the stable carbon isotopic composition of Neogene surface ocean dissolved inorganic carbon (δ13CDIC) and atmospheric CO2 (δ13CATM) to serve as input for carbon cycle modeling and proxy‐related studies. The largely observation‐based δ13CDIC reconstructions are inferred from Neogene planktic foraminifer carbonate δ13C records with

Antarctic Sea‐Ice Loss Enhances East Asian Summer Precipitation Through Tropical Ocean Warming
Abstract Antarctic sea ice projected to have large reduction associated with increasing greenhouse gases, with potential impacts extending beyond the Southern Hemisphere. However, its influence on East Asian climate is not fully understood. Using Earth system model experiments and multi‐model simulations, we show that Antarctic sea‐ice loss by the end ...

Changes in Arctic Sea Ice Lead Width Distribution: Model Development and Experiments
Abstract Sea ice leads play a significant role in the atmosphere‐sea ice‐ocean systems. Model representation of leads of varying widths is desirable to enhance our understanding of the behavior of leads and associated processes. We have developed a lead width distribution (LWD) conservation equation to explicitly simulate the evolution of leads of ...
