A WIDEBAND DUAL-POLARIZED PATCH ANTENNA WITH ELECTRIC PROBE AND MAGNETIC LOOP FEEDS

open access: yes, 2012
A new wideband dual-polarized patch antenna consisting of a magnetically-fed and an electrically-fed is presented in the paper. The two feeds are orthogonal to each other at the center of the ground plane and generate 0 - and 90 - polarization separately.

Design and measurements of a tri-band one-dimensional electromagnetic bandgap resonator antenna

open access: yes, 2016
The authors utilise a one-dimensional (1D) stack of three identical unprinted dielectric slabs as a superstructure to design a novel yet simple tri-band electromagnetic bandgap resonator antenna (ERA).

Multimodal Soft Surgical Robots Enabled by Eco‐Degradable, Sterilizable Polymers and Transient Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A compostable PGS soft surgical robot with interchangeable modules integrates transient Mo tactile and Si thermal sensors for dual feedback. The device preserves its function after clinical‐grade sterilization, demonstrates stable actuation and cardiac tissue grasping with real‐time in vivo pulsatile monitoring, and biodegrades post‐use with soil‐safe,

Signal waveform estimation in the presence of uncertainties about the steering vector [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We consider the problem of signal waveform estimation using an array of sensors where there exist uncertainties about the steering vector of interest. This problem occurs in many situations, including arrays undergoing deformations, uncalibrated arrays ...

Transfer Printing and Reconfiguration of Soft Electronics Using Digital Microfluidics and Laser Machining

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a digital microfluidics‐based technique for transferring and reconfiguring soft nanomembranes. Laser‐machined nanothin membranes are picked up, transported, and aligned via tailored surface tension and the actuation of water droplets, enabling the development of flexible electronics, the integration of functional materials on 3D ...

Template‐Confined Synthesis of Shape‐Engineered Single‐Crystal Gold Microplates in Lithographically‐Defined Polymeric Patterns

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐crystal gold microplates are high‐performance nanomaterials with an impressive wafer‐based application space. Progress has, however, been tempered by an inability to exert synthetic control over microplate size, shape, and positioning. In this work, control over these parameters is demonstrated using a seed‐mediated synthesis that both confines ...

The cloverleaf antenna: A compact wide-bandwidth dual-polarization feed for CHIME [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics, 2014
We have developed a compact, wide-bandwidth, dual-polarization cloverleaf-shaped antenna to feed the CHIME radio telescope. The antenna has been tuned using CST to have smaller than -10dB s11 for over an octave of bandwidth, covering the full CHIME band ...

Simulation and manufacturing of a miniaturized exponential UWB TEM horn antenna for UWB radar applications

open access: yesJournal of Microwaves, Optoelectronics and Electromagnetic Applications
This paper presents the parameterization of the structure of a miniaturized exponential UWB TEM horn antenna and its effect on the matching impedance and directivity. In addition, a microstrip balun that feeds the antenna was proposed in order to improve
