High conductance values in p -folded molecular junctions [PDF]
Folding processes play a crucial role in the development of function in biomacromolecules. Recreating this feature on synthetic systems would not only allow understanding and reproducing biological functions but also developing new functions.

Single‐Chromophore Homojunction Organic Solar Cells: A Path to Simplicity and Efficiency
This perspective discusses how the intrinsic optoelectronic properties of organic semiconductors, their molecular packing in the solid‐state, and internal energetic gradients within a device can enable free‐charge carrier generation in homojunction organic solar cells.

Shellfish Tissue Monitoring in Piscataqua Region Estuaries 2014 [PDF]
Originally conducted by the Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment from 1993 to 2011, the Gulfwatch Program examined trends in the water quality of the Gulf of Maine by monitoring toxic contaminant concentrations in the tissues of shellfish ...

On the relevance of polyynyl-substituted PAHs to astrophysics
We report on the absorption spectra of the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) molecules anthracene, phenanthrene, and pyrene carrying either an ethynyl (-C2H) or a butadiynyl (-C4H) group.

Mechanochromic luminescence of 1-alkanoylaminopyrenes adsorbed onto cellulose papers [PDF]
We have previously reported that crystalline samples of 1-acetylaminopyrene (AAPy), 1-octanoylaminopyrene (OAPy), and 1-stearoylaminopyrene (SAPy) exhibited mechanochromic luminescence.

ABSTRACT Accurately knowing the frontier orbital energies of the structurally disordered small‐molecule organic semiconductors that are used in optoelectronic devices such as organic light‐emitting diodes is required to rationally improve their performance. Here, we show that these energies can be deduced with a large accuracy from the peak energies of

Substituent‐controlled aggregate luminescence: Computational unraveling of S1/S0 surface crossing
We computationally investigated the molecular aggregation effects on the excited state deactivation processes by considering both the direct vibrational relaxation and the S0/S1 surface crossing, that is, the minimum energy conical intersection (MECI ...

Synthesis and Photophysical Properties of 9,10-Disubstituted Anthracenes [PDF]
We report the synthesis and photophysical characterization of four 9,10-disubstituted diphenylanthracenes with specific modifications of the model backbone which involve both the 9,10 para substituents at the phenyl rings and the substitution with ...

Laser‐assisted synthesis enables rapid (within 1 h) and high‐yield (≥90%) production of Co‐MOFs with mesoporous structures, tunable magnetic and optical properties, and efficient adsorption of N2, CH4, and CO2 for low‐energy gas separation. DFT calculations elucidate the electronic structure and adsorption behavior.
