A survey of bacterial, fungal and plant metabolites against Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae), the vector of yellow and dengue fevers and Zika virus

open access: yesOpen Chemistry, 2017
Aedes aegypti L. is the major vector of the arboviruses responsible for dengue fever, one of the most devastating human diseases. Some bacterial, fungal and plant metabolites belonging to different chemical subgroups, including Amaryllidaceae alkaloids ...

Diels‐Alder Reactivity of a Chiral Anthracene Template with Symmetrical and Unsymmetrical Dienophiles: A DFT Study

open access: yesChemistryOpen, 2020
In this work, we used Density Functional Theory calculations to assess the factors that control the reactivity of a chiral anthracene template with three sets of dienophiles including maleic anhydrides, maleimides and acetoxy lactones in the context of ...

Palladium-Catalysed Coupling Reactions En Route to Molecular Machines: Sterically Hindered Indenyl and Ferrocenyl Anthracenes and Triptycenes, and Biindenyls

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Pd-catalysed Stille and Suzuki cross-couplings were used to prepare 9-(3-indenyl)-, 6, and 9-(2-indenyl)-anthracene, 7; addition of benzyne led to the 9-Indenyl-triptycenes, 8 and 9.

Furfuryl Alcohol‐Driven Proton Supply Enables Efficient Photocatalytic H2O2 Production Beyond Water‐Based Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A ZnIn2S4–carbon dot heterojunction enables photocatalytic H2O2 production coupled with furfuryl alcohol oxidation. In this redox system, furfuryl alcohol acts as both the electron donor and oxidation substrate, producing furoic acid with 100% selectivity and 98% conversion while supporting efficient H2O2 generation with a solar‐to‐chemical conversion (

Diels-Alder reactions of anthracenes with C-sulfonyldithioformates

open access: yes, 2003
C-Sulfonyldithioformates (2) (R-1 = ArSO2, R 2 = ArS) readily add to anthracene and 9-methylanthracene (1) in a Diels-Alder fashion with formation of 9,10-dihydro-10,9-(epithiomethano)anthracenes (3) which in turn may suffer thermally induced elimination

Frontier Advances of Terpyridine–Zn(II) Complexes: From Molecular Design to Smart Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tpy–Zn complexes serve as versatile building blocks for the modular assembly of functional materials, including polymers, gels, MOFs, cages, and composites through programmed noncovalent interactions, empowering practical applications in visual molecular recognition, smart functional materials, and photocatalytic transformations. ABSTRACT As one of the

π‐Radical Cascades to Peri‐Fused Triangulene Dimers

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We demonstrate the potential of open‐shell molecular graphene fragments as synthons for constructing graphene nanostructures via π‐radical cascades. By identifying monoradical intermediates as key selectivity‐determining species and tuning steric effects in a triangulene precursor, we show that reactivity in a formally diradical system can be ...

Proposal for Sets of 77Se NMR Chemical Shifts in Planar and Perpendicular Orientations of Aryl Group and the Applications

open access: yesBioinorganic Chemistry and Applications, 2006
The orientational effect of p-YC6H4 (Ar) on δ(Se) is elucidated for ArSeR, based on experimental and theoretical investigations. Sets of δ(Se) are proposed for pl and pd employing 9-(arylselanyl)anthracenes (1) and 1-(arylselanyl)anthraquinones (2 ...

Diboron- and Diaza-Doped Anthracenes and Phenanthrenes: Their Electronic Structures for Being Singlet Fission Chromophores

open access: yes, 2020
We used quantum chemistry methods at the levels of mixed-reference spin-flipping time-dependent density functional theory and multireference perturbation theory to study diboron- and diaza-doped anthracenes and phenanthrenes.
