Ethyl anthracene-9-carboxylate [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2008
In the title compound, C(17)H(14)O(2), the COO group and the anthracene fragment form a dihedral angle of 76.00 (19)°. The torsion angle around the O-Csp(3) bond of the ester group is 108.52 (18)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H⋯O inter-actions and edge-to-face arene inter-actions with C-H⋯(ring centroid) distances in the range 2.75-2.84 Å.

Novel Nematic all-trans-Perhydroanthracenes, -naphthacenes, and -benz[a]anthracenes

open access: yesCHIMIA, 1985
Hydroxy derivatives of the title compounds were prepared, two of them via regioselective formation of enamines. Some nematic acyl derivatives of the alcohols are described and their phase transition data recorded.

Promoting multiexciton interactions in singlet fission and triplet fusion upconversion dendrimers

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Singlet fission and triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion are two multiexciton processes intimately related to the dynamic interaction between one high-lying energy singlet and two low-lying energy triplet excitons.

Dicyanovinyl End-Capped 9,10-Bis (Phenylethynyl) Anthracenes for Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesTechnical Transactions, 2018
A series of 9,10-bis(phenylethynyl)anthracene dicyanovinyl end-capped derivatives have been used in bulk heterojunction (BHJ) photovoltaic cells prepared by the solution process. The compounds were excessively decorated with moieties enhancing solubility

Rearrangement of Cyclotriveratrylene (CTV) Diketone: 9,10-Diarylanthracenes with OLED Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Electroluminescent 9,10-diaryl anthracenes have been shown to be promising host and hole-transporting materials in organic electroluminescence due to their high thermal stability, electrochemical reversibility, and wide band gap useful for organic light ...

Photophysical characterization of the 9,10-disubstituted anthracene chromophore and its applications in triplet-triplet annihilation photon upconversion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Molecules based on anthracene are commonly used in applications such as OLEDs and triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion. In future design of blue emitting materials it is useful to know which part of the molecule can be altered in order to obtain new

Modulating Two‐Photon Absorption in a Pyrene‐Based MOF Series: An In‐Depth Investigation of Structure–Property Relationships

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates H4TBAPy‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) ‐ NU‐1000, NU‐901, SrTBAPy, and BaTBAPy ‐ for multiphoton absorption (MPA) performance. It observes topology‐dependent variations in the 2PA cross‐section, with BaTBAPy exhibiting the highest activity.

Extent and toxicity of contaminated marine sediments in Southeastern Florida [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Thirty sites were sampled in southern Biscayne Bay and Manatee Bay in December 1999 to determine the extent of toxicity in sediments. Analyses and assays included: pesticides and phenols in seawater; chemical contaminants in sediment; amphipod mortality,

Exciton and vibronic effects in the spectroscopy of bianthracene in supersonic beams [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
Excitation and dispersed fluorescence spectra of 9,9’‐bianthracene in a supersonic expansion are reported. The spectra are anthracene‐like, indicating that the rings are weakly coupled. Exciton effects are considered in the interpretation of the spectra.

Selective Benzene Capture by Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) hold significant potential for capturing benzene from air emissions and hydrocarbon mixtures in liquid phases. This capability stems from their precisely engineered structures, versatile chemistries, and diverse binding interactions.
