Noninvasive Glucose Detection with Biodegradable Electrodes from Rice Starch Functionalized with a Carbon Quantum Dot/Nickel Oxide Nanocomposite

open access: yesAnalysis &Sensing, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract shows an eco‐friendly approach to fabricating a biodegradable electrochemical sensor. Carbon quantum dot/nickel oxide (CQD/NiO) nanocomposites are synthesized using Aloe arborescens leaf extract, which served as a natural reducing and stabilizing agent.

Degradation of Reactive Red 180 and Safranin and a Comparative Analysis of Photocatalysis and Photo‐Membrane Systems for Real Textile Wastewater Treatment

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examined the degradation of Reactive Red 180 and safranin using zinc oxide photocatalysis. Complete dye removal was achieved for both dyes under optimal conditions within 2 h. For Reactive Red 180, the optimum conditions were pH 10, 0.5 g/L zinc oxide, 25 ppm dye concentration, and 1 L volume. For safranin, the conditions were pH 10,

Natural and unnatural anthraquinones isolated from the ethanol extract of the roots of Knoxia valerianoides

open access: yesActa Pharmaceutica Sinica B, 2012
Eight new 9,10-anthraquinones (1–8) including three acetonide derivatives of 3-hydroxy-2-hydroxymethyl-9,10-anthraquinones (6–8) were isolated from an ethanol extract of the roots of Knoxia valerianoides. On the basis of chemical transformation reactions

Removal of Methylene Blue and Congo Red Dyes Using Sustainable and Eco‐Friendly Bioadsorbents: A Review

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The continuous increasing discharge of synthetic dyes into aquatic systems seems to be an important environmental and health risk due to their high toxicity and resistance to biodegradation. Among these dyes, methylene blue (MB) and Congo red (CR) are widely used in textile and industrial applications, necessitating sustainable and efficient ...

Aloe vera–Based Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles With Characterization, Potent Antibacterial and Antioxidant Properties

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Green synthesis has emerged as a suitable alternative to the traditional method for manufacturing nanoparticles (NPs) as it provides a safer, sustainable, healthy, and environmental path for the NPs synthesis. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were prepared using a green method with locally sourced Aloe vera leaf extract.

Isolation, Production and Characterization of Thermostable Lipase from Bacillus Sp. Strain L2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A thermostable lipolytic endospore forming Bacillus sp. strain L2 was isolated from a hot spring (91oC) in Slim River, Perak, Malaysia. Nutritional studies showed that casamino acid was the best nitrogen source while trehalose and Tween 60 were the ...
