Human hypoxia models in aerospace medicine: Potential applications for human pharmacological research

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 1, Page 58-72, January 2026.
Aerospace medicine required controlled terrestrial models to investigate influences of altered atmosphere conditions, such as hypoxia, on human health and performance. These models could potentially be expanded to encompass disease conditions or treatment targets regulated through hypoxia or hypercapnia.

Chelation Therapy for Rare Earth Element Toxicity: Current Evidence, Challenges and Future Directions

open access: yesBasic &Clinical Pharmacology &Toxicology, Volume 138, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT The accelerating integration of rare earth elements (REEs) in advanced technologies has generated rising concern over human exposure and the attendant toxicological risks. This review presents an up‐to‐date synthesis of current evidence on REE toxicity across multiple exposure pathways, including inhalation, ingestion and occupational contact,

Pharmacotherapy Risks in Rare Genetic Diseases: Cross‐Referencing ACMG Secondary Findings v3.2 List With Clinical Databases

open access: yesClinical and Translational Science, Volume 19, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Clinical genomics and pharmacogenomics have largely remained separate fields, though some genetic variants have overlapping disease risk and drug implications. However, the extent of this overlap is not well studied. To explore this gap, we cross‐referenced genes from the American College of Medical Genetics Secondary Findings v3.2 list with ...

Relative efficacy of GLP‐1 and GLP‐1/GIP receptor agonists in the prevention of alcohol‐use disorders using a target trial emulation approach

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 1, Page 137-150, January 2026.
Abstract Aims There is growing evidence that the GLP‐1 system is implicated in alcohol and other substance use disorders, and that GLP‐1‐based therapies may have therapeutic relevance in alcohol use disorder (AUD). We aimed to determine the impact of GLP‐1 based therapies on incident AUDs in a real‐world setting in patients with T2D.
